Title: What size are the wolves?
Post by: Orcs on 15 July 2015, 06:46:28 AM
Just wondering what size the wolves for the wolf riders are.

Are they like the old wolfriders - on the small wolves or are they on the bigger war wolves of the old range?

They are the small cute wolves, not the hulking great direwolves...
There are some on my painting table at this moment, should grab a photo after the weekend.

Thanks Lemmy.

I do have a problem with your answer though - "Small cute Wolves"  thats a bit like saying "Adolf was a naughty boy"

Wolves of the fantasy variety should be "savage snarling beasts"  :)

Small and cute as if in 6'of throat ripping attitude in real life (Old FG6 & FG3 & 4), compared to 10' long snarling behemoths from the orc army (Giant Warwolf FG10)! http://www.pendraken.co.uk/Fantasy-c21/Goblins-sc153/
Basically, Techno's not done a major resculpt on the wolves, but the riders are massively cool now (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) 8)

I only 'tweaked' and neatened the wolves.
If I remember correctly, all I did was change 'the mouths' on some of the wee chaps.

Cheers - Phil

Just a thought with the resculpts in general, I appreciate its unlikely to happen (huge amount of work, casting difficulties etc.) but having the mounts and riders separate would be nice.

I'd love to have the flexibility to put goblins on horses, knights on bisons, Hussars on lizards (VSF cavalry using native Venus animals), etc.   :D

Some might disagree. Romulus and Remus? Mowgli? That Algernon Blackwood fantasy about the spirit wolf?

Wolves and Goblins are separated...
Maybe you were talking about the others historical ranges ?

Great ideas, I put my Goblin Chieftain on a Dire wolf, I'll try and get some images up soon.
