Post by: Druzhina on 10 July 2015, 01:52:20 PM
The Battle of Montaperti was fought on September 4, 1260, between Florence and Siena in Tuscany as part of the conflict between the Guelphs and Ghibellines.
La sconfitta di Montaperti - The defeat of Montaperti, by Niccolo di Giovanni Ventura, 1443 (http://www.warfare.altervista.org/15/Niccolo_di_Giovanni_Ventura-1443.htm) is illustrated with soldiers in 15th century costume.

The banner carried by the Sienese is probably of Saint Martin cutting his cloak in half to give it to a beggar. (http://www.warfare.altervista.org/15/Niccolo_di_Giovanni_Ventura-p21.htm)

To all wargamers from this forum, I'm 80km away from Rome.
A night here will cost you ramblings about minis around a pizza.

We're likely to be there again this December. Let's see if we can coordinate things and actually meet this time.

December is not a good period for me as I may go to Marseille or my parents come to visit me for Christmas.
But, who knows? ;)
