'Morning chaps,
I'm looking for some gendarmes suitable for an early/mid 16th century Hapsburg-Imperial army to go up against my Ottoman Turks. Whilst the Pendraken EL 9 Gendarme is a perfectly good figure, I rather like the slightly more 'European' look to the 15/16th century MM knights.
Can anybody comment on mixing Pendraken and MM? Are there substantial differences in size or build of the figures, for example?
Thanks,
CS

Never tried those particular figures, but I mix the WWII types happily. They're different, but not outstandingly so. PD figures tend to be bigger & heavier looking, with deeper and more pronounced detail. However, that can depend on the age of sculpts from both manufacturers, and, as I say, I'm not familiar with these particular ones!
Have a look in Pendraken's Late Medieval range - http://www.pendraken.co.uk/ELM1-p2839/ for instance, or ELM 28 & 36.
Damn. I'd not spotted that Stradiot figure in the Elizabethan range before now, and now I want some! I bet they'd make good "classic" Jinetes too with a judicious chop on the shield...
The MM chaps are a bit like the old Mike's models; slightly squat and dumpy. I use them with Pendraken, recognising that not all men are similarly proportioned.
The stradiot is useful, but consider the Irish rider too.
Hmmmm, thanks Wulf, at least there may be some basic compatibility. Good spot, Toxicpixie, I do like the Pendraken medieval figures but the germanic look of the MM figures is still very appealing.

And thanks to you too, Fierce Kitty. I have a funny feeling my next 10mm quest may well be Italian Wars - orientated...

Oh aye, they do look handy - http://www.pendraken.co.uk/ELM20-p2858/ ?
No shields though, but then, not everyone needs a shield and variety on a base is the spice of life!
I made double-lobed shields with red lentils and a small file. Piece of cake, that was.
I hesitate to call anyone mad, but o_0

I didn't know you could use lentils to make cakes....I do now....I've looked it up.

Isn't a Micowave a bit technical Phil.

Magister figures should mix OK, but it does vary from range to range and in some cases from pack to pack in a range. So check before you buy
