Title: 16th C. Ottoman Turks
Post by: Leon on 27 June 2015, 12:33:46 AM
Szymon was halfway through these when his internship ended,so he took them home with him to get them finished off!  As with the Polish figures, he's done a fantastic job on them and we'll be expecting a flood of new Ottoman orders from these...  :D

They look cracking - the figures are cool, the painting is great, and the presentation of the images is very clear and crisp. Top work all round.

They are immediately tempting - but I do need to paint more before buying more ( although we all know that won't hold for long )

Beautifully painted. Soooo tempting ....

... I see a Haradrim army in my future :)

Proxies for a Lizardman army I think! Already have a couple of roughly 10mm scale Mumakil who would proxy for Stegadons.

I cant believe that I missed these.......... :o

Finally have an opponent to go up against my poles that isn't pike and shot based! These should distract me from Napoleonics for a bit!!

How different are the uniforms of 16th century Otttomans from 19th centuary.

You can also do Cossacks; few pikemen (though God knows you're grateful for the few you get!). Also Muscovites, though they are a bit of a challenge to assemble. And despite what some Poles claim, they had a couple of civil wars too (the Lubomiski rebellion being the best-known of these, but by no means the only one).

Not that I'm badmouthing the Turks. I'm doing well with them in our campaign at present (though the fact that the Polish player is to tactics what Casanova was to abstinence-only sex education isn't doing the Ottoman cause any harm at all).

Don't worry about FK. You can find information on Ottoman uniforms here http://www.ottoman-uniforms.com/ (http://www.ottoman-uniforms.com/) at the risk of more controversy. Enough changes to be significant but that doesn't mean you can't use some figures or proxies from other ranges.

Cheers

Excellent painting and a great advert for the range. Hard to believe they are only 10's because they are as good as a lot of 15's I have seen.

Cool to see these painted up. You went for a somewhat different paint scheme than I was planning for my figures.
My Janissaries won't be as bright blue, or at least not all of them.
