I managed to slap a bit of paint on my first Pictish models over the weekend. Here are a couple of photos with a more detailed review on the blog.

EDIT: Pics resized.
Nice looking hairy bunch of chaps.
Looking good, that man !
Cheers - Phil
Top work, l just got some Picts too, not to paint just yet...until I saw yours, they may jump the (very long) painting queue now.
Really confused here - aren't all Picts painted by definition?! :-\ ;)
Mollinary
Really nice ! Especially the shields ;)
Nice work and great to see them painted 8)

Cheers all. The sculpts (and the paint work) looks nicer at 1:1 scale than in the enlarged pictures.
Very nice work I do like the details on the shields
Very good indeed. They are still near the top of my wants list - probably very top of my 10mm wants.
Sorry there wasn't more variety in the sculpts, I could only afford to fund that many... :'(
Look spiffing though! 8)

Completely understood Lemmy. You are to be commended for commissioning the project in the first place.
Out of interest, what rules set are you using them for?
Originally was going to be Hail Cheesy, but now Dux Brittanium/Dux Bellicum or Something...
In answer to the mixed pack with crossbows, they were a very rare weapon, most rules only allow one unit of skirmishers, so I figured it was better that way.
I do like these, especially the cavalry.
Great painting :-bd
Wow! I really must order some of these! They look great and will make worthy opponents for my Saxons, Irish and British. By the way, is that one of the medieval Welsh figures used on the javelin base? Lemmey, another thank you for commissioning this range and making it possible. If I decide to mix some figures in, it is considerably much easier with proper Picts already there (as opposed to conversions on tons of 10mm buggers).

As a player of both Hail Caesar and Dux Bellorum (Dan Mersey's Osprey one), I think I much prefer Dux for this period. It has more period flavour and isn't full of loop holes.
Clearly you have not been playing Hail Caesar with the type of honourable gentlemen for whom the pastime was devised.
I suppose if you think about it, painted Picts is rather a redundancy!

On the contrary, my lads are great, and I appreciate the flexibility of the rules (we have far too many 6mm armies c.200 BC that we use HC for), I just think that for early Medieval Britain, Dux Bellorum does it better and you don't have to sit and discuss any anomalies as they come up. Because they don't. ;)
The real questions is whether to start on a third Dux army, and if so, which one...
These look fantastic and are on my ever increasing list of wants
Take care
Andy
IW, I see where you are coming from as I use Dux Bellorum and Dux Brittaniarum for post-Roman Britain.
