Title: 1864
Post by: Fenton on 17 May 2015, 11:02:25 AM
So I watched the first two episodes last night and enjoyed them. Didnt expect two story lines to be present and got a little confused by it all at times though I think this was down to my complete lack of knowledge in regards to Danish history

I shall watch again next week

Now watching episodes 3 & 4. Can't really be bothered with the soap opera bits but overall it's good. Was confused last week when suddenly the Danish made sense, till I realised it was German. Have been waiting patiently for the "only 3 people understand the Schleswig Holstein question, one's dead, one's mad and the third is me and I've forgotten it." quote.

This was the first war game period I ever fought, with Steve Connolly, who had converted both armies from Airfix figures. With breech loading rifles and cannon against muzzle loaders, this will not end well. I've also visited Dybbol battlefield,  which is better preserved and interpreted than episode one would have us believe.
