Title: Abyssinian Army
Post by: shireman on 15 May 2015, 06:53:36 PM
I am thinking of building an Abyssinian army to pit against my Mahdists and was wondering if anyone here could help with costume. I have the Osprey book on Adowa but would be grateful for any other sources that you know of. All help much appreciated, thanks.

You could do worse than start here:

Brief summary of the Mahdist-Ethiopian part of the conflict and a picture of Ethiopian troops

Bear in mind it's not a small country, and tribal variation was considerable.

Thanks to both of you for the advice. Google was my first port of call and has provided some useful details and images, not least some figures from wargamers' armies.

Why is that? Modesty or malice?
