Hi - I like the vibrancy that you have managed to get into your British chaps. They have that lovely lustre of figures that are 'inked with thinned down black oil paint - is that so, or did they have a black ink and then you went back in with highlight colours?

Thanks to all for your comments

@Norm and paulr  

Inked after painting, then small highlights after
I never use Black ink
I keep a pot of wash and add brown and greens in whatever shades I have available
70% water   20% klear  10% ink  or something close anyway !
Keep topped up as you go and don't worry too much about the shades
Make it up as you go along and this keeps things more natural looking when you work with it
Works for me anyway

I don't like the parade ground look to my figures
I like them to look like they have been in the field for a while

Same wash goes all over the figures and base as well to link all together
