Title: wanted crew figures for Sd.Kfz. 251's
Post by: Womble67 on 05 May 2015, 09:44:26 PM
Hi all might I suggest some crew figures be sculpted for the various Sd.Kfz. 251's  vehicles.

If anybody else thinks these would be a good idea then please add your vote

Take care

Andy

Not really interested in guys sitting down on the bench seats but a gunner for the MG or 37mm would be of interest.

TBH I usually just use stray artillerymen or officers if I want to crew Pendraken vehicles.

Yes crew for vehicles would be good.

With small thin bases to allow them to be glued in

I used the seated infantry.
I heavily cut them at waist level.

For the gunner, I used a kneeled Panzerfaust soldier, were I cutted away the Panzerfaust.

But it is hard work even for a sculptor.

a good one for german gunners is GR165. The SMG is really easy to cut away and the pose is good.

I found a better picture

Now from what I understand these just drop into the half track so would make a fantastic addition to anybody who already owns pendrakens half tracks as well ?

Take care

That photo looks familiar.

I can take some photos of the individual strips if that helps - they can also be used in trucks. The sculpts are quite simple, with the guys really sitting shoulder to shoulder.

That would be fantastic if you could.

It wouldn't be necessary to provide a full crew for the SdKfz 251 - a few individual figures would be sufficient just to populate empty vehicles.

That could certainly be another variant. In fact I think its à fantastic idea

There's already a seated Landser figure, he'd need a bit of surgery to remove the legs but would do otherwise.

Personally, I don't want seated passengers in my half-tracks - by the time you get as close to the enemy as you are in-game they should be out doing what they get paid for, not shirking in an armoured box! Different if they're peering over the edge shooting things.

True, but a machine-gunner fore and aft that one didn't have to butcher wouldn't come amiss.

Another good idea. And that figure could maybe also be used for different vehicles to.

Crew for everything open topped!  Baseless, slim, designed for the job.  At the moment, this is sending me to pithead for any open topped vehicle.

I just got a bag of artillerymen from Pendraken and use those to crew SPGs and the like.

Specific crew for every open topped vehicle sounds like lots of expense for not much return to be honest.

Above all else they would have to be skinny and short (or cut off at the knees).

I cut the artillerymen off at the ankle, dot a bit of paint on each leg, position figure in vehicle, drill holes where paint blobs are with a pin vice, glue figures into drilled holes, undercoat and paint vehicle and crew.

What a cunningly simple way to work out where to drill the holes :)

I had a heck of a job getting two lads into an SU-76 and I had 1:160 Minifigs figures to use.

Yeah, PD figures are lovely, but a bit hefty compared to the tanks...

I remember especially buying some 1930 era civilian cars in 1:144 from Shapeways. You could barely squeeze a single PD figure into one, and it's supposed to have 4 seats...
