Thanks Six.

Are you using any new stuff from Dungeon World for your Batrep?

Hi Blaker,

I`ve restricted the first batrep pretty much to what you get in the starter set, so anyone thinking about getting a set for themselves, or those wondering what to do with a recently purchased set, can see the sheer potential of even this basic box.

Later scenarios will see more and more of my collection in play, and will develop into a full "deeps" campaign.

Hopefully "Troll Hunt" should be up tomorrow. Must be a problem with the link code I`m guessing.

Cheers,

Six.

Cant wait.  I had my 16 yr son develop a dungeon and then I said we need to find the dungeon first, soo he developed a little scenario where our party left the safety of the village to head up the road to find the entrance to the dungeon.

Needless to say, his first experience at any type of dungeon crawl or roleplay. The party was slaughtered not too far from the village in a nasty woods crawling with tons of Orcish, Goblins and Undead critters.  We of course regined at the village, on our last set of lives for everyone, we finally made it to the dungeon entrance. However, the evil vampire kept rolling up at least three minions each of his activation turns. Suddendly, my other son said to me to just shoot at the vampire while he and the other beat the minions. Dud, that sounded good, so several turns later, with the entire party only 1 wound away from complete death, the DM, failed to roll any minions and all of the party that has ranged spells or weapons shot the vampire and kilt it. Or at least, made it disappear.  Next time we will start at the entrance of the dungeon.

It was a good game for about 2 hours. we were using the very first edition your offered way back when. We have since, downloaded the 2nd ed and are planning another adventure in the future.  No pics, since we were just trying the rules and not all the minis were painted  ;)

Dear Blaker,

Wow, you`re actually role playing in the true spirit of the game and I think that is utterly marvelous.

your game sounds like a lot of fun, and I simply LOVE the way you are injecting so much imagination and enjoyment into everything.

Truly wonderful stuff.

The 1st Ed rules work just fine too. But the 2nd Ed allows a lot more scope, as I`m sure you`ll discover.

All fixed, it was the spaces in the link which seemed to throw it off the scent!  Works fine now.

Howdy Six,

Very inspiring Batrep!  I like the doors on coins so you can actually open the door, nice touch.

Yep, I gotta get more stuff painted up now and finish painting the dungeon.

Thanks for the report and scenario.

Just finished reading now...good stuff Six, really useful for following rules-mechanisms etc  8)

Some nice eye-candy too: you're selling yourself short on your previous comments on painting skills etc  :D

The only [minor, related to old-skoolio gaming] criticism I've got is that there's undead skellies fighting with orcs....I know that's what it was back in the day, but without a reasonable explanation, these things tend to fall foul nowadays...

Or may be that's just me - being warped & perverted by all this 3.5 / 3.75 / 4 shenanigans  :ar!

I completely agree with you Nik.... about the skellies and orcs being together bit. I`m actually a stickler for correct mythos behind dungeon (or fantasy world creation) design.

H-o-w-e-v-e-r    DA-DAAaaaaaa!!!  :D

In this instance, there IS a solid explanation, which will be revealed in the second part of the Batrep lol.

hehe,

Six :-)

Oh My, thanks Nik... actually, I think my painting could be summed up in one sentence - sloppy but adequate  :-\

I notice the paint is starting to come off the sides of the coins I use for bases due to extensive use. I`ll have to touch them all up along with my next batch of ECW Imagi-Nation infantrymen. I don`t really like doing the bases so stark and plain, but they do sort of work for dungeons. If I did my normal green flock finish they`d stand out like sore thumbs in a subterranean environment, and I`m not up to doing them individually with dungeon matching tiles lol.

I just go for an overall appearance on the table that looks kinda cool; and they do me anyway. Martin Hackett inspired me a lot in his fantasy wargaming book, did you ever see/read that one? I think it was a self published thing, but it was a nicely put together hardback, available for a while on Amazon.

Would like to say that the first DW Batrep was just an intro really (standard D&D with no real logic or seeming continuity; the next one will be semi-linked but geared towards a real RP session... much longer, advanced, and covering the full scope of the game.

Cheers,

Six :-)

Thanks for the Great Bat Rep, Six.

alot of work's gone into that, and it's appreciated.

Only problem is that you've now set your self such a high standard for you next anticipated release  8)

Well on that recommendation a copy is now sitting on my desk. A very good 2nd hand copy for an amazon reseller for the princely sum of 1p + £2.74 P&P. Had a quick flick through, looks like a bargain!

It`s really not a bad read is it? When ever I am on a train, waiting at an airport... or find myself sitting in the car as my girl goes clothes shopping lol, this is one of the books I bring with me. Like Featherstone`s "Solo Wargaming", doesn`t matter how many times you look through it, you always find something worthwhile to catch your eye and spark the imagnation.

happy reading ^^

PS: incidentally,  last year I found a couple of really great Mageknight Miniatures Handbooks on Amazon for 1 cent each + postage. Like you, I was pretty darn chuffed :-)
