A lovely little Hill dwarf magic user unit by Craig Armstrong.
I really like this, and its a great example of what can be done with a bit of inspiration!

Like that LOTS !! :-bd

Lovely model!
Mind you, personally I think the Dwarven mage is not worth the points and so have not used one. In the fullness of time I'll knock up a base but other more pressing needs demand my attention.

Interesting observation. Why do you think that?

Just a feeling as I've no hard evidence and to date we've only done straight line-ups rather than scenarios. I struggle to think of useful uses for the decent spells, and even them I'm not sure how decent they are. Showering the team with goodness means you have to stay still but any decent oppo will pump MPs and CPs into gunning down a single unit at distance. Most other mages seem to be able to pump their team and everyone can keep going.
I get other races may be better at magic, hence better spells and magic users so aren't complaining :) just that for the points I'd rather have more warriors... you get few enough Dwarven units anyway :o
Interesting.
I think the only dwarf spell that slows the units down in Granite Aspect. The others make the dwarf units faster and better at hill fghting (mainly), and a lot tougher generally.
Still, more warriors is always good. OR maybe spending the spell caster points on artillery or a gryocopter? All good options. :D

Indeed :). A tactic learnt playing HOTT many years ago. Get a flying thing that blocks recoils and stick it behind the enemy line... cause mayhem ;D
I think KiwiDve is about ready to throw my Gyrocopter across the room as they keep causing extra hits on his units that cannot fallback.
Cool Mage stand, is the purple smoke in a spiral?
Blocking retreats are good in Warband and blocking routs is devastating

Not quite, but need to come up with a decent AA option - or counter-air units like Pegasi or a Dragon :)
Yep, and flyers are particularly well suited to that.
They are vunerable to shooting though... :-\
Yes, Roxy has designed his list with top archers pimped with Parting shot and plans to boost them with mage spells :o
All to knacker one lonely Gyrocopter ;D
Great model. The purple is abrilliant colour to choose to use for the smoke. :)
Excellent work.
