Title: Hinterland/Y Gwyll
Post by: Duke Speedy of Leighton on 12 April 2015, 07:24:47 PM
If you haven't seen this incredible series, check the feature length special in the BBC iplayer.
Amazing.
Just brilliant drama by S4C.
More people who watch it, the more support it will get. It's had a second series commissioned, and Netflix have picked it up too.

I've seen it. It's very good ... but the sound quality goes funny some times and in some scenes they just seem to speak gibberish.

Just looked it up, it is some sort of detective drama set around Aberystwyth in Wales.  Appaently it is made in Welsh (with English sub-titles) and then also in English.  (Wonder if the writers and/or actors change some of the translations for fun?  (I know I couldn't resist doing it personally!   :D )

Watched the opening - it was proper miserable. Not nearly as amusing as Vic and Bob's African kid's head in a box.

It's about the best acted detective show out there, and it's soundtrack is absolutely minimalist.
It can be gloomy, yes, but it's gritty and realistic.
The English lines are often ad libed
