Title: Wipe-clean grid mats
Post by: Luddite on 10 April 2015, 03:13:00 PM
Hi chaps,

I'm looking for recommendations for good quality wipe-clean gridded play-mats, for roleplaying games.

There's lots of options out there - has anyone used something they can recommend?

Cheers

I have a Chessex hex-grid Battlemat that I've been using for 20 - 30 years. I draw out locations with dry-wipe markers and clean it up during/ after sessions. Still going strong.

I supplement it with commercially printed mats for specific places but it's withstood a fair bit of use.

We made our own from mattboard then grids drawn on it and then covered in sticky backed plastic

We use a blackboard (actually a green board) with different coloured chalk, works for us.

Chessex have always been good for us.

For cleaning them I've just discovered a "magic eraser" cleaning block as flogged by the Missus Pixie - works really well - http://www.wikaniko.com/shop/magic-eraser.html (http://www.wikaniko.com/shop/magic-eraser.html)

It even shifted the ground in years upon years worth of stuff scribbled on the clubs' maps without lifting the grid or the finish :D
