Title: My 10mm American Civil War Project
Post by: Womble67 on 09 April 2015, 09:56:07 AM
Like many other wargamers I'm nearly buried up to my neck in unpainted lead and never seem to be able to complete a project as I am constantly flipping from one project to another.

So I decided to hire a professional painter, to complete my ACW armies.  The service I settled on was Turbil Miniatures (http://www.turbilminiatures.co.uk/) which is run by a husband and wife team and they gave me an estimated turnaround time of 3 months.  They also said they would give me regular progress updates.

So my first job is to clean up the miniature's and then post them to Turbil Miniatures so they can begin painting. As soon as I receive a progress report I will update this post.

Okay as promised, I received an e-mail from Turbil Miniatures (http://www.turbilminiatures.co.uk/) last night to inform me that they had started on my figures.  I must admit I'm a little bit excited about this and can't wait to see the results.

Hi All
I received an e-mail from Turbil Miniatures (http://www.turbilminiatures.co.uk/) today to inform me that my Union figures should be with me by the end of the week.  To be honest I feel like a small boy again waiting for Santa to come to say I'm excited is an understatement.

Looking  very good for the project. Have you also considered  Cracker Line and Plank Road ACW 10mm figures, which are also very good and compatible with Pendraken (they are sold by Time Cast). Congratulations and all the best for the future.

Despite the opinions of some on this forum, marriage can be a very agreeable state. May you both find it so!

Not so sure about ACW, but there's room for difference there....

Actually I think you averred lucky starting ACW with so much superb 10mm stuff now available. Unfortunately I put a huge amount of investment and effort into 15mm during the 80s and early 90s so can't really change now.

I have no idea what I managed to do to get it to do that!

But yes, speeling and gramma by rulez doesn't always work well :)

Back on track, congrats Womble and Mrs Womble!

Thank you the congratulations it is much appreciated.

And as for spelling and grammar it is one of my biggest problems and one that hinders my participation in online discussions. it makes me feel very self-conscious when posting.  However since I have acquired a smart phone and can use predictive text I have found it easier.  Also I use NaturallySpeaking Dragon software.

I'm using 3 x 40mm x 20mm MDF bases with 8 figures per base for a standard unit. It also means the flag is central which I really like.

I absolutely love Black Powder I think it's a fantastic set of rules and Glory Hallelujah is just the icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway thanks for the nice comments
