Hello.
My name is Blood Axe or Starslayer on several game forums. Im an avid gamer, role-playing, boardgames, wargames. Played Warhammer, Warmaster, 40K , Epic, other miniature wargames. Found Pendraken from hearing about Warbands. Great stuff.
Sadly, hard to get in the USA. With the death of Games Workshops - Specialist Game branch- there is an empty niche. WarMaster fans might really like Warbands.
I wish this stuff was easier to get in the USA. Also the extreme lack of pictures is sad. People will not buy minis without pictures. Ratmen, Dark Elves, others have nothing, no pics at all.
I could only find two places here that will have Pendraken- War Store- very limited selection(great wars mostly) and no special orders. Great Hall Games said they will order anything for me. (great guys!)
I'll be building a Hill Dwarf army. Maybe Ratmen....if I can get some pics. ;)
Get your stuff out there guys!
And add pictures!!!!!
Thanks.
Hi Bloodaxe, welcome to the Forum!
Apologies for the lack of pictures, it's something we're working on as quickly as we can, but with 3500+ products now, it's a time consuming job. All of the new Warband releases will have pictures with them, along with any other new products we release.
On the distribution, once we've got some more new Warband ranges/armies released, we'll be approaching a lot of games stores to see if they'll stock the armies/rulebook full time. I'd hope that Warstore and GHG will both take us up on that, as we've been dealing with them for a long time now.
Hello Bloodaxe
Yes, it is a problem, not having the ranges pictured, but then as they point out if they spent all their time taking good photos they'd have less time to spend moulding up new figures, casting, making up orders and sending off parcels :).
For pictures, a search of the forum and a Google Image search turns up pictures usually, except for the the SCW Moroccan Falange Militia which remain some of nature's mysteries.......(an old moan of mine...)
A quick search on Ratmen:-

I appreciate that- but I did check online & found all i could. I saw the ones you posted, but i appreciate the attempt to help. It would be great to have pics of the figure along with codes on the Pendraken site.
Hi Bloodaxe, welcome to the forum :-h
Pendraken's 'mail order' service is very efficient and reliable and has served me well in New Zealand
I am of course what challenges ordering from th UK poses to those in the USA
Feel free to ask questions there are many helpful people on the forum
Welcome to the Forum Bloodaxe, I look forward to seeing your Warband armies in action soon.
Thanks all ! I appreciate the friendly welcome & eagerness to help!
I'm in the process of making an order with Great Hall Games (I think, lol) and will hopefully have a force soon.
Welcome to the madhouse I mean forum :D Its been one of the most enjoyable forums I've been a member of.
I've ordered direct from Pendraken twice now and both times received my package in under two weeks, and I'm in Oregon. The customer service I've recieved from Pendraken is the best I've ever had, seriously top notch!
Welcome from me, as well, Bloodaxe.
Cheers - Phil.
More bloody foreigners ;)
Welcome

Hello and welcome.
Hi Bloodaxe. Welcome to the forum.
Welcome, Bloodaxe. By joining this forum, you have passed the first test (i.e., successfully diagnosed insane). :)
I know what you are saying regarding photographs. On the basis of a previous and satisfactory order of miniatures from another manufacturer (shhh!), I once took a punt and ordered 'non-photographed' figures on the assumption they would be as good as before. Big disappointment. So much that I do not order 'non-photographed' products now unless I have seen them elsewhere. On that point, if you have any queries about what something looks like, you'll usually find someone on this forum who will oblige with a pic.
Hi Bloodaxe,
welcome to the forum.
I'll second Westmarcher in saying that people here are very good at posting pics of items that they have for which there are no images on the website. Not ideal, but definitely better than nothing. Obviously there may be items you are interested in that the people who post here don't have.
Depending on your abilities and personality the pictures of painted examples of figures which are being added to the site will either inspire you to new heights or plunge you into despair at the prospect of ever achieving anything so good :)
Welcome aboard Bloodaxe. :)
Welcome on board!
Welcome Bloodaxe (good Yorkshire Viking name). I notice IanRS' avatar is a 'bloody foreigner.'
Welcome to the 'mad house' - otherwise known as the Pendraken Forum, and of course to the world of Warband fantasy (rumour has it that this could be followed by Warband historical).
Hopefully we will see a lot of pictures going up in the next couple of months that should entice a lot more players.
Welcome on board Bloodaxe.
'Ow do Bloodaxe, welcome to the wonderful world of Pendraken.
You sir, are most welcome here.
OK...
1. Well done for dipping your toe into Warband. I hope you find it enjoyable. Hill dwarves are a nice little army, although i'm hopeless with them... http://luddite1811.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/warband-hill-dwarves-vs-goblins.html (http://luddite1811.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/warband-hill-dwarves-vs-goblins.html)
2. Pictures. Aye. You'll find it a constant gripe. :( Leon and the Pendraken goblins are doing the best to get the dageurrotype machine working, but boy is there a mountain of lead to get snapped. As others have said, the community helps out as much as they can.
I've got some on my blog, e.g.

Ask and generally you shall receive. :D
3. Pendraken offer the best customer service anywhere. Best in industry without a doubt. Drop them a line and they'll sort something out for you.
4. We have effective firewalls here so very few trolls get through. As least, not troublesome trolls. Wierd trolls is another matter...
5. It's best to avoid bringing up the topics of tanks or Aztecs. Brace yourself if you do...
6. This place can be VERY British at times. :P Don't worry though, we might tease but we love you all! Except people from Liverpool. Or the Welsh. Or Foreigners. Or that bloke down the end of the painting bench, etc. etc. ;D
7. I'm looking forwards to seeing your colonial Warband painted up and clattering about the battlefield.
8. I was going for the magic 10. but i feel i've run out of steam... :(
Yeah, so welcome.

And a welcome from me too, Mr Axe (or should that be Ax?)

Some people may lack a little commitment ... so ...
8. There are a number of in-jokes. You'll soon get used to them.
9. It's a great place to ask for advice. Like I say, there are a lot of knowledgeable people around. Take Techno for example. He's an expert on the English Civil War, having carried a musket through most of it (see 8 ).
10. Dive in. The Pendraken forum is like bathing in custard. It's a bit of an odd activity, but more fun if you really immerse yourself in it, and a great way to spend time with friends.
Get im is pills NOW.....

Ok. By the way....whats a plonker? ;) We dont hear that in the States.
Plonker is a term made popular by the UK TV programme "Only Fools And Horses" and is used to describe a stupid or incompetent person. The main character, Del Boy, often refers to his brother as,"Rodney! You plonker!" It is often a term of exasperation or even affection depending on circumstances.

A plonker is an idiot. Made famous in a Brit sitcom (Only Fools and Horses).
Matron (aka Techno) was suggesting it would be my new nickname. Just ignore her though; she's just cranky because she's in pain most of the time and also can't use the preview button. :D
It's a derogatory term, somewhere better than a whazzock, above pillock, worse than berk.
Usually applied to someone of purportedly low intelligence.
Often associated with 'Rodney, you plonker!'

Ah! Very often you'll find the British use apparently friendly words in hostile situations. "Do you want to come outside, mate?" is not an invitation to view some astronomical feature, but more to settle a disagreement by robust means. "See you, pal" from a Glaswegian is oft the precursor to some energetic discussion.
Similarly "You plonker" would be said to someone who has done something silly or foolish, but it is a mild rebuke, without heat or rancour. Often on nights out, friends will call friends with a cry of "Terry, you w***ker!" This usually indicates some excitement or anticipation in the meeting, as well as being usually an accurate description of Terry's solitary habits.
"Matron" is my fault. I did, in an earlier post, suggest that Techno in his role of moderator acted as a wise and benevolent guide to the forum, allowing us our rambunctious playing, but gently shepherding us away from serious confrontation and conflict. It was a throw away remark which seems to have stuck, perhaps because of the rightness of it.
Perhaps though, it was because I also suggested that he dresses as a senior nurse for at least part of the week.
I should point out that I have no evidence for the accusation.
Spike Milligan at least uses the term from time to time for the male member. Another unacknowledged debt never to be paid by Sir Terry (no, changing initial letters doesn't alter the case).

This is very true. When my son passed out, his officers moved amongst the rabble. When asked where we came from, we said "Cheshire". He brightened appreciably. "Rally?" he drawled "What paart?" "Runcorn." We responded. He shuffled off in disappointment.
