My encounter with Bill's inability to understand "remove my business info from [tmp]" and the kaffaff with Angelbarracks highlight recent questionable behaviour of said forum.
Katie has been banned from [tmp] after criticising violations and subsequent removal of [tmp]s privacy policy. Another member threatened her and can still post away like nothing happened. It has now reached activities I consider illegal and on the note of privacy policy (and violations) factually are.
I cannot fathom what has started these things but I certainly am happy I have no dealings with [tmp] or its Editor in Chief.

Reading this makes me appreciate what we have here all the more ;)
Fully agree. Even controversial topics are discussed in a gentlemanlike fashion.
While I can understand LAF's don't talk about other fora rules - and it seems a bit daft to talk about another Forum behind its back.
But TMP does seem to be heading in an increasingly bizarre direction. I used to visit it every day, but stopped visitng a good long while ago. And am a lot happier for that. The bizarre moderation, or general absence of it for long periods, which allowed nonsense to propagate for far too long, was a big part of my leaving.
The shear scale of TMP did mean that even the most obscure query would receive a response.

Mind you the discussion is on tmp because Bill is slow to delete comments. Tbh I hold no interest in tmp's matters and my own quibbles have been resolved with an oversized disclaimer. If Bill prefers my customers to be extra informed that I have no business with him and why then so be it.
But we are talking about severe violations of rules, values and good taste. Thus the matter should pop up everywhere to remind us what we have here and that we must guard against such actions. Considering the conversations here are much more civilised as a starter we should still remind ourselves of it and make sure that stays so.
I'm so glad that I don't frequent TMP! Chatting with Michael of AngelBarracks about TMP has been very illuminating but also very disquieting...
I rarely look at the posts anymore, just have a glance at the home page to see if anything new has come out
I never use it, half the time i end up on it it's closed for maintenance. I work shifts so have more time to look in the morning, maybe that's the poblem.
I only ever look on that page if a google search sends me there.

Can't agree more. I know I only duck in and out of this forum as well, but it is always a pleasure.
I used to go on all the time and go to most of the posts, now i dip in every so often just for a quick look at the SYW, AWI and Napoleonic galleries, product news other than that i don't go near it, a very poisonous atmosphere over there, too many people i would not want to share a room with.
I've never managed to get on it. It always seems to be down whenever I try, and it seems that is a blessing in disguise.

Par for the course I'm afraid. I 'banned' TMP from my world years ago when I queried why I had been put in the doghouse for no reason that I could discern. I got an 'unattractive' response from the individual who runs it, who seems to have an anti-British bias, so I asked that all my posts and details be removed. It is a huge and varied forum that attracts some very strange people, such that it became quite an unpleasant place. The Napoleonic pages were by far the worst, with very aggressive approaches towards debate by some contributors, who were more interested in 'holding court' than discussion coupled with personal attacks on those who questioned them. Most of the contributors who posted useful stuff stopped using TMP a long time ago.
I got myself doghoused - an unpleasant experience for a feline - just for making a remark about certain erotic preferences in the Catholic church. That truth should silent be I had almost forgot.
I am afraid this is no great surprise to me either. A similar thing happened to me 6 years ago and only a letter from my solicitor got anywhere. Mr Armintrout is a despicable person and the discussion with him still leaves a bad taste. In this incident he also managed to p*%$ off a whole countries gamer community, so the majority of this countries gamers left the forum & won't go near it!
I know other 'victims' from before this time and so it is not a recent problem, although it does seem to be getting worse.
The only time I ever look there, is if someone here puts a link up.
Doesn't sound like I'm missing much.
Cheers - Phil

Amen to that! ;)
I go to TMP to provoke fights and the depart ("it was him") ... is that wrong?
No. As long as you dont try it here.

That's the whole point right there, generally speaking this forum polices itself really well :)
I got banned for suggesting there was an element of hypocrisy in Bill's method of policing TMP.
Funny that he then went on to espouse how he gives chances and does not want to stifle discussion. Oh the irony.
Quick give that man a stifle!!!

Thought that said "stiffie" :-[ :D ;D
So which forum is best? There's only one way to find out ... FIGHT
Isn't hat what TMP does? Mainly with itself, as the opposition gets ban-hammered too quickly to call it a fight!
I'm just not a trusted member - cant even get myself doghoused on TMP.

PS - NO JELLY,or AZTECS.
Peanut butter anyone? :D :D :D
Even bloody worse.

I have to admit, I'm quite glad I dont go there at all, except look at some miniatures that were linked through google search for images.

That's the only reason I end up there.
I tend to browse certain forums to see if there is anything of interest, but once the 'experts' start kicking each other in the nuts I switch off.
Chad 😳
Know exactly what you mean... :-\
I use it, occasionally to try and help someone looking for some esoteric information, or to make an esoteric request of my own. I give the "debates" a wide berth! The presence of a number of idiots and trolls doesn't detract from its usefulness, I find.
