Hi everybody, here is a teaser of my Waterloo project, the map is not the final one, I did it to check the size and general appearance. My artist will do a much better job inspired by the Ferraris map. Some miniatures are also missing on the French side: some artillery, guards and generals, and I will start the Prussians next year.

I always told you he was a bit mad ! ;) ( I know him for ages now.. )
Very very good work, Séb' !! :-bd I hope to play with these armies and map the next time you come to France.
Magnificent, just to know how many figurines about the gaming table?
Spectacular, sir. An awful lot of figures there. 8)
around 6500 miniatures
Of course Ronan, you will be invited but it will not be before two years, the time for me to paint the Prussians and to bring back to France safely all those miniatures.
Certainly puts my Waterloo project to shame (15mm DBN so only around the 600 figure mark) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Egzt4QAtGM8
Think you might struggle with GdB rules, any time I ever played then usually in out 6 hour Sunday sessions it always ended up in a draw as we ran out of time but YMMV.

No ! You're simply not as crazy as LeManchou ! ;D
( there's a very thin line between madness and genius :P )
That's either inspired or completely mental!
Either way, hats off to you. Phenomenal layout even without the final map!
That must have took a few weeks :o :o :o
Super!
Wow! Just wow!
Seriously bad case of metal envy now :)
That is incredible. You and Ronan seem to have too much fun!
I dream of having forces like that, but don't think I'll be able to manage. Maybe I'll have to visit France ;)
V/R,
Jack
Well, I 'll be back next winter and plan for a big game (two days) at the beginning of February, Gravelotte or Solferino probably so if you're around Nantes at this time, you are welcome.
You are too kind, Sir :D
Two years, eh? Anything is possible. Though not likely as I have to wait until my kids are grown and out before I can afford it! :-[ :-[
Take care, and I'm looking forward to more pics/battle reports.
V/R,
Jack
That's amazing, just amazing =D>

As wrote LeManchou, you'd be welcome Jack ! ( but I understand it's a long way )
I was thinking to organize something like NikFest, but I never have time to seriously work on it :(
That's a lot of figures! Sometimes when we're shipping all these packages out, it's easy to forget just how impressive a big bag of little figures can look when they're all painted up and on the table.

If you had to guesstimate, how many do you think you've personally cast, ever?

Not sure why it came up with drone, its never done it BEE fore
I thought you'd discovered that Leon now had remotely piloted clones.
There is a few more pictures on my blog.

I love the idea of fighting on maps; removes so much clutter :-bd

Now there's a question! I've been casting since 2005 myself, so averaging a few hours of casting time per day, 350 working days per year, 10 years... It's got to be getting on for 5 million of the little chaps I'd think. It's hard to quantify, as you've got horse, artillery, vehicles, etc, so it's not all foot figures at a fixed price for calculating purposes.
Dave's been casting since 1992 though, so his total is probably a lot higher. His casting tends to be more vehicles though, so again you'd struggle to work it out anywhere near accurately.
It's no wonder I feel like I've got RSI at times... :o
Ronan - Someday man, someday ;) If you or LeManchou ever happen to be in Texas, stop on by for some WWII or Modern gaming 8)
LeManchou - Thanks for posting the new pics. I dream of having something like that someday.
V/R,
Jack

I'd offer to come up and help....But I'd probably end up spraying molten metal all around the factory. ;)

Just seen this. Wow.

You've personally cast the population of Norway at a 1:1 ratio :o
Manchou this is all very well but I hope you aren't neglecting the one true period ?
No, don't worry, I am still working on 1859 and then 1866. The maps for Koniggratz and Custozza are ready, As well as all the battles of 1870 (until Sedan) and 1859. It's slower as I only paint this period when I am in France. In China, I only work on the big napoleonic project. Concerning the enormous 1870 campaign, all the maps will be ready this summer. It will be a battlefield of about 7000 square feet and with 16 000 miniatures in it!
Just wondering, anent the thread topic: Are ABBA still together? There could be a lucrative re-release for 'em this year.
You mean of this
Sorry couldnt get the embed to work.
High fashion or what?
Kitty's heard of ABBA ? :o :o :o :o
Would have thought they were a bit too 'heavy' for him.

This was back in the days when they were a simple Swedish folk band, before they went all heavy with "Mamma Mia", "Voulez Vous" and "The Devil Ripped My Spleen Out!"*

Early release b-side to "Dancing Queen."
Here we go again ... my, my! :)

Hello Ronan,
Yes I'm French but I don't live in Montauban. I'm much more near Great Britain than of Montauban :)

I understand better. I live in a small village near Maubeuge "et son clair de lune" ;)
I live in Belfast and I think I am closer to Nantes than Montauban is :D
I am 90% sure I have been to Maubeuge or at least driven through it
Hello Fenton,
Maubeuge is a fortified city. The architecture of the houses of the city center is not very attractive because the city was bombarded between 1944 and 1945 and the reconstruction was not a success.
Fortunately people are nice.... :-bd

We were on our way from St Quentin to Mons. Thats all I remember
Synchronicity!
A couple of weekends ago we played a 2mm scale WW1 game in which I and my fellow "German" players had to take Maubeuge before the BEF retreated from it. At the end of the game we discovered the BEF were never there! After taking fairly heavy casualties we eventually took the city by wheeling up the heavy and super-heavy artillery and blasting it flat.
Oops! City Centre? My bad! :)

Oops! Centre de la ville? Ma faute! :)

Hello Ithoriel,
French and German 1914 fought for the city of Maubeuge. German had many death because of the forts which surrounded the city. In 1940 German wanted to destroy the city not to repeat the history(1914). The allies ended the work between 1944 and 1945 to destroy the station.
I hope that you with understood what I wrote with my small level of English
I understood perfectly. Thank you.
