Great collection D.

Do the herringbone patterns resemble armour do we think, or local fashions at the time?

I know this is slightly off topic D, but do you have an overall index page?

David Nicole, in his thesis, interprets that on the 1st Museo Nazionale d'Arte Orientale bowl as armour

The overall index page is  Illustrations of Costume & Soldiers (http://www.warfare.altervista.org/index.htm) which lists the century and regional indices.

Done, it's down in the Resources thread now.  I actually need to move all of these threads down into Resources as well.

I have added a couple of extracts, from David Nicole's thesis, about Khurāsānian cavalry and infantry.
