I imagine the website is being updated. Doesnt the BKC family need adding? Anyway, down it definitely is - I assume everyone else got here via Minibits.

Not sure what happened there, no planned updates from our end so it was probably the server people messing about with something.

The BKC/CWC/FWC stuff is all on hold until the summer, so we'll be starting to work on BKC first, ready for a reprint in autumn hopefully.  We may look at bringing the BKC website over onto the Pendraken one somehow, but I need to speak to the webguy about that.

The Post Preview?  There's nothing we can do about that unfortunately, it's a bug in the forum software that we use, so we have to wait until the SMF software people fix the bug and release the update for it.

Careful - you're reverting to 17th Century spelling.

I know that's what you were taught as a boy, but remember the conversation we had about using modern spelling?

I'm on a windows 7 PC with Firefox running No Script. If I tell No Script to allow pendrakenforum.co.uk to run javascript the preview hangs. If I keep No Script active for the site, preview works. I'd have expected it to be the other way round to be honest.

Set that dog on the Kat.

Preview has never been a problem on either laptop. And I do have a bad signal here.

Not that I have a blanking clue what I'm talking about....
But is it folk that are connected to t'net by a physical connection, that are having problems...And not those that use a signal that comes through the ether ?

My connection is physical and ethereal, wireless hub 3 ft from the box. Cant see why it would make any difference. The operation system might, I'm on Windows 8 and 7.

Title: Re: Is the PD site down?
Post by: Ithoriel on 11 March 2015, 10:39:14 AM
From my limited experimentation it seems to be a problem connected with javascript.

If the script runs, preview fails, if it's blocked preview works.

I could understand if it worked the other way round ...

Odd and frustrating!

Mine too. Comes down the fibre optic and then makes the last 3 feet wirelessly. I'm on Windows 7 and Firefox and I can't get Preview, although I've not tried PMing.

That's just about what I've got, Ray.....Hard wired to a gubbins on top of the tower, which send the signal by magic to something inside the tower.
Running Windows 8 and Firefox.

Phil - try Chrome or IE. One's free to download, and the other will be in the box somewhere.

For me Firefox works perfectly with javascript disabled and hangs with javascript enabled.

Don't have Chrome.

With IE preview hangs.

It's hanging on Firefox at the moment....

Reverted to my software testing days.

Trying on Firefox again. Java appaered to have been disabled on this machine on last attempt.

Same as last time. Suggest changing browsers should help.

The biggest surprise here is how many members are using the Preview function!  If you all learnt how to spell fings write, then we wudn't have this trubble.

Are you running Heinz 3.0 or Campbell's on that?  Don't enable the 'tiny sausage' plug-in, it doesn't add anything special to the mix.

Preview is most useful when entering links or pictures. You can make sure it's working correctly before posting. Otherwise it's like playing darts blindfolded.
Oh, and typos are insidious little devils....

Preview for me is to see how it looks when I've quoted or dropped in a piccie, especially on my tablet as that tends to be less precise.
