Following J Chaos and Will's (Mad Lemmey's) "Aliens" posts, it got me thinking we're all a bit obsessed right.....................................................right :) ;)
We're the guys who, not only can we quote from "Aliens", we can tell you how many lights were on the APC (5 it's 5! Trust me).
So, post a quote form your favourite film, for others to guess.
Here are the rules:
1) Just a "quote", no other information;
2) It must be war, wargames, history related (or funny);
3) Don't "reveal" your answer 'til 3 guesses, the correct answer or until FSN gets silly;
4) DON'T GGOGLE QUOTES (you can subtly alter quotes to avoid "Google-Detection".
Here's my first:
Name the character and film:
"I really don't know what they will do to the enemy; but, by God, they frighten me."
Wellington in Waterloo

Wellington in Waterloo
Wrong!!!
Okay, you're right!
Git :P
Your turn! :)
As Mr Fenton says, either Wellington in Waterloo,
or Sir Henry Ruff-Diamond in "Carry On Up the Khyber" - the bit with the kilts.
Try this one ...
"Get then down! Down!"
er...Zulu?
Some dude in a red jacket :-[
Status Quo?
You've subtly altered "Down, down deeper and down!" to stop me googling it :)
"Target the Reavers. Target the Reavers! Target Everyone!! SOMEBODY FIRE!"
.. and no it's not almost every Fleet commander I've ever flown with in EVE Online ... OK it pretty much is but that's not where the quote comes from :)
One more guess, cos I haven't got a clue...
Fenton, you're clever; come on!
"Target the reavers" has to be "Serenity", Cap'n Mal.
"Get the down! Down!" was said by John Wayne.

Ah, now, wasn't that John Wayne in The Longest Day? The scene with the paratroopers hanging on the trees n the village?
Close fsn but no cigar
OK easy one, mainly because I watched it yesterday
Colonel, there's no such thing as "death with honor". Just death.

Indeed it was.
Next one then:

Is that "the Eagle has Landed"?
I'll be surprised if this isn't answered very quickly

That "dude" from Conan
You still think it's beautiful to die for your country. The first bombardment taught us better. When it comes to dying for country, it's better not to die at all.

The fact Hitler hated it is enough for it to be mandatory viewing!

A clue: Slightly bizarre war film in which Donald Sutherland pops up as Jesus.
MASH?
"Johnny Got His Gun".
A late 1960s film in which Timothy Bottoms played a WWI soldier who was badly wounded (no legs, no arms, no face) and was kept alive as a sort of experiment. Much of the film takes place in his imagination, and the line was said by Jason Robards as his father.
First time I saw the film I had nightmares for weeks.

And so, gentleman, the study we refer to as "Nobby", takes another step towards self realisation. Excellent work today! :D

This exchange from one of my favourite films?
"Tea, Sir."
"I've got lunatics laughing at me from the woods. ... (other bad stuff)... Do you really believe any of that can be helped by a cup of tea?"
"Couldn't hurt, sir."

Close 'King Richard and the Crusaders'
Of course. well played, Sir.
Actor 1: I hope our little golden hook will catch the fish.
Actor 2: You hope?
Actor 1: Oh it will... if he's here.
Actor 2: If he's not we'll stick your head upon the target and shoot at that.
That's the Errol Flynn (loved him when he sang with Hot Chocolate) version of the "Adventures of Robin Hood". 1938. Another of my favourites.
It's the Sheriff and Prince John.

Isn't that the British officer (what was he doing in the 7th cavalry?) in They Died With Their Boots On?
Huzzah! A correct answer!
"Queen's Own" ('cos he used to be in the Queen's Own Light Dragoons) and it was he that introduced the very catchy "Garry Owen" as the 7th Cavalry's marching tune.
Unfortunately "Garry Owens" is an Infantry mach in a proper army - Eniskillins from memory.
IanS :-w :-w
It's an Erroll Flynn film. Historical accuracy takes somewhat of a back seat to buckling of the swash.
Remember he fought the Indian Mutiny and then went to fight the Crimean War in "the Charge of the Light Brigade".
Though Wiki does say it was the marching tune of the 50th (Queens Own) Foot.
Okay, here's another, again slightly altered:
"When I say brush, turn and brush."
"Ready?"
"Brush!"
Dunno, but I don't want to miss the oppotunity for one of my favourites
Quote{name} I saw you. You're alive.
I am? Oh, thanks very much.
It's Doc from Hamburger Hill
