Hi guys,
Whilst I am terrible at making up rules, I thought that given the number of alternative list suggestions that have popped up around the place, that we should have a place for people to put up alternative lists.
Whether it's Norse or Egyptian fantasy; or whether you want to post lists for armies in your favourite fantasy universe, where orcs and humans can march hand-in-hand in the service of a dark power, then this is the thread for you.
I'm looking forward to seeing some imaginations run riot.
If this is inappropriate, I won't be offended if the mods nuke this thread.
Egyptian Fantasy would be fab...

Check out the 'allies and mercenaries' rules. ;)
Would be interesting to see what people use for Melnibone, dragons and assorted foes
Conan! and maybe LOTR
Armies form the Belgariad might work (bit 2 dimensional though).
QuoteConan! and maybe LOTR
Now those would be cool!
GW would be all over the LotR thing though eh? :(

I dont see why. They only hold the rights for making figures based on the film as Mithril have them for the LOTR and hobbit books . I am sure there would be no problem with names of the races etc
Interesting... :-\
Mithril and prince august.. such a lovely figures....

Prince August ; weren't they the "cast your own" guys?
Certainly looking at adapting these rules for LOTR, especially for 1st & 2nd Age. So would be interested in seeing peoples thoughts on lists.

Might be of use for those of you interested in Middle Earth.

Luke's work on these lists is difinitive. I've used his resource for conversions to various systems.

When being auditioned for Lord of the Rings Luke pointed out a spelling mistake on a sign above one of the doors.
The surprised casting person said "Can you read runes?" To which Luke seriously responded "can't everyone" ;D ;D ;D
He also is fluent in Elvish, Japanese and Chemistry ;)

Yep - they certainly were / are (?)
I found my stuff (bought when I was 10 at the Model Engineering Exhibition) when we moved house last year - and I've had some great fun with my 8 yr-old casting orcs...

;D ;D ;D
Or Crufts handlers as we call them :D
Orcish nomads (riding a mixture of wolves and boars) and looking a bit like huns or mongols but with more horns and antlers on their helmets. Half-orc nomads mounted on a mixture of wolves and ponies/horses. Also goblin nomads. All looking more like LOTR orcs than GW /Warhammer ones.
Half-orcs including infantry, scouts/crossbowmen/archers and light and heavy cavalry (as mercenaries).
Gnolls/armed and armoured werewolves/ wolf-headed beastmen.
Aztec frogmen.
Human nomads.
Well, OK, I admit it - basically Mongols ;)

Cannot read the DBM acronyms.
In fact, I can read it, but not understand it.
This might help?
www.wrg.me.uk/WRG.net/History/DBM%203.2.pdf (http://www.wrg.me.uk/WRG.net/History/DBM%203.2.pdf)
Doesn't help.
Is there some chart somewhere ?
Does this help?

Myrmidons?
"The Myrmidons or Myrmidones (Greek: Μυρμιδόνες) were a legendary people of Greek history. They were very brave warriors: trained and commanded by Achilles,[1] as described in Homer's Iliad. Their eponymous ancestor was Myrmidon, a king of Thessalian Phthia, who was the son of Zeus and "wide-ruling" Eurymedousa, a princess of Phthia.
An etiological myth of their origins, expanding upon their etymology — the name in Classical Greek was interpreted as "ant-people", from μυρμηδών (murmedon) "ant's nest"[2] and that from μύρμηξ (murmex) "ant"[3] — was first mentioned by Ovid, in Metamorphoses: in Ovid's telling, King Aeacus of Aegina, Achilles' grandfather, pleaded with Zeus to populate his country after a terrible plague. Zeus said his people would number as the ants on his sacred oak, and from the ants sprang the people of Aegina, the Myrmidons." - Wikipedia
Though I suspect Ironduke had something more like this in mind

I have to admit....
I nearly fell into the bonfire last night, 'cos I tripped on a bit of branch, on the edge of the heap :-[
Well......It was so dark apart from the light from the fire, I was walking by braille.
Cheers - Phil
Phil you really ought to get help for your sub-conscious self harming fetish.
not though to use a torch ?
IanS
I started when the sun was just disappearing...NO problems then.......BIG fire...lots of light !!
I SHOULD have taken a torch outside with me to start with ! ......Not wait until it was pitch black, and the fire had died right down. :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[
Cheers - A Twerp.
When I was about nine I walked across a "dead" bonfire in my wellies and melted the soles.
Mum was NOT happy.
