I painted these up recently.

Hoping to use them in the not too distant future against the Late Romans I picked up at Hammerhead in some games of Dux Bellorum
Looking good!

And welcome :-h
Hello and welcome.
Those look brilliant.
Cracking job TWD :-bd
Welcome to the forum.
Welcome on board and a nice mix to the bases.
Welcome to the forum, TWD.
Damn fine work on the Saxons.
Cheers - Phil.
Nice work. Always up for some Saxon violence. (Thank you Ken Dodd, 1974.)
Welcome to the goodest forum on the internet.
Nice one, I am painting up some Saxons myself right now.
Welcome to the forum.
Those Saxons look ready to party. :-bd
Well, if TWD was Angling for compliments, he's got 'em.
Wotcha TWD. Nicely done, bright and colourful, just what you need for 10mm.

Agree with that; 10mm does take (need) more colour.
Hi
IanS
Cracking good start to your forum account.
As others have said, bright and colourful with plenty of figure pose variation. Just the ticket in this scale.
Top job :-bd
Wow, what a nice forum.
Thanks for the warm welcome and positive feedback.
Here are a few more Saxons I painted some time ago
Some Hurscarls
(http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r195/webdeak/Saxons/WMSax013.jpg)
And the rear view
(http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r195/webdeak/Saxons/WMSax017.jpg)
As I'm really working on earlier period Saxons, these won't have much use in Dux Bellorum for the time being :(
Spearmen

I've got some pictures of some bowmen somewhere too I'm sure...
Love them! :-bd
Your basing is really impressive; how do you do it?
Looking good.
Nice figures (and welcome). :-bd
Looking forward to seeing your Late Romans.
Very nice, again !!
Cheers - Phil
Looking good. I like the white patern in the shield they enhance the figures. 8)
Thanks all, glad you like them.

Very simple
Glue painted models to base
Apply thinned PVA
Dip in sand
When sand is dry "flood" with brown ink with a dash of washing up liquid aded to help the flow
When dry, drybrush Bronzed Flesh, then Bleached Bone
Paint on small spots of thinned PVA
Add static grass.
Paint base edge (though I've just noticed some are brown and some are green...doh!)
Very nice indeed
And a belated welcome to the forum
Excellent work TWD!
I particularly love the grubby Great Fyrdmen. :D
The only note i'd caution is the use of purple. Not sure this was a colour dye available to the Saxons. :-\

Cheers; which static grass is it?

Purple dye wasn't unknown to the Saxons - just hard to get hold of and so limited to the elites.
Hence I've used it on the huscarls and the noble warriors, not on the mass of regular troops.
:)

Not sure I'm afraid.
Probably a GW mix, but I tend to add pots together as they run out, so it's a bit of an organic homebrew.

Agh! Was worried you'd say that (bit similar to mine). Shame though because it works really well. Top job :-bd
Looking very good. I should get on with mine so I can launch Dux Britanniarum down the club.
Very nice indeed 8)
Very nice figures, well based. :-bd
Now I think I will have to move the Saxons up my list of 'to do's'! :)
Have you had a look at the Viking range. I am using some of them as earlier Saxons.
Finally finished the leader's stand.
gave them all red and black shields to tie them together and distinguish from the other nobles.

The red on black shields really work. :)
