Title: aloha!
Post by: scotthabanero on 02 March 2015, 11:24:16 PM
hi, im al and im a wargamer.....
so i found this corner of the community whilst looking for minis for a game that im writing and leon suggested joining.
ive been in the hobby for around 25 years, mostly playing/painting stuff from a large highstreet chain that you may have heard of. i like painting but mostly for fun these days having got bored of doing stuff to fit the zeitgeist. ive won a few prizes over the years but it just wasnt fun so now i just do what i feel. ive got a few entries in the pendraken comp and thoroughly enjoyed trying some 10mm stuff. i like to sculpt too, mostly 28mm fantasy football and have a sold the odd piece to production ranges.
playing wise, i like simple fun games mostly as i dont have much time to set up and learn things - not sure if i can mention game names here so wont for now.
anyway, nice to meet you all :)

Welcome :-h

Your circumspection is noble and, as you will soon learn, unexpected on this forum ;) :o

Hi ummm...

Now I'm confused (really doesn't take much nowadays), first three words in your introduction are "hi, im al" but everyone is calling you Scott. Have I missed something (not unusual)!! Is Scott your real name but you prefer to be called Al, or is your LogOn ID a clever double-play ploy  :-\ :-\.

Anyway, welcome to the forum, can't say I disagree with you about simple games, life's too short to complicate it unnecessarily  :).

If you do come across some great, simple games let us know. Looking forward to hearing about your 10mm project.

Cheers

GrumpyOldMan

Welcome Al Scott Habanero :)

Life is definitely too short for the complicated games I once played, I prefer simpler stuff as well these days.

Welcome.

This is a very select corner of the hobby. We don't just let anyone in, you know ... oh! Apparently we do. Otherwise, how would one explain Westmarcher?

I'm with you on the game front. I became a solo wargamer because a) rules got too silly and complicated b) rule lawyers and c) nobody would play with me. Actually, that could also explain my marital status.  :-\

Is your fantasy football of the gridiron type, with heavily aroured orcs take on trolls? If so, we have a different idea of fantasy.

Welcome anyway.

Wotcha Al...or Scott to the schizophrenics wargaming fora. You'll find everything you could both ever need to know about 10mm wargaming and a lot more besides.

Welcome, Scott. You will have realised by now that this forum is an offshoot of Compulsive Painters Anonymous. Any time you feel the urge to paint something outrageous just post. After a while you'll find that compulsive posting has completely cured you.  ;)

Welcome Scott.

As you may have guessed this forom can be a little "off the wall"  but most members have useful stuff to contribute.  Its just sifting the jokes, banter and inane coments out.

;D ;D  Perhaps you should pay people to play wargames with you - in the same way that Madame Whiplash will play with you for a fee.

Last Hussar states in his signature that he will "Wargame for payment" ( A wargames prostitiute no less ). Perhaps you should contact him.
