Impressive; love the new packaging too, very professional looking.
Bet that weighed a bit if it was all in one box! ;)
Looks great...now you made my wait are lot harder :'(

It was a big (heavy) padded envelope. I also had another heavy parcel from a different comoany. Don't think I am my posties favourite person right now !
I've only taken a good look at the trolls and squogglers so far, and they are lovely little models.
That all looks great, I really fancy a goblin army but have so many other projects on the go, I must resist (mustn't I?)
Do you really need me to answer that ? ;)
Cheers - Phil

Just "say no" Bodvoc; don't give in to peer pressure ;)
I'm not going to give in...

I'm not, I'm not, I'm not...
I might :-[

(Read the following in a Poirot accent ;) ) Of course you know that by 'resisting' this will cause you great angst, which in turn will cause you to feel tense, this will make you unable to relax, and alas your muscles will be taught and your movements spasmodic, unfortunately this will make your painting suffer and this will cause you even more anxiety. No the answer is clear my friend, as clear as the nose on your face as you English say. You should get your little goblin army and be happy, that way you will paint par excellance and that way you will be happy and paint all the more faster and better than if you continued to refuse yourself such a little pleasure of having the little green warband.
(Well that is the kind of reasoning I use to excuse my own purchases, and who am I to argue with those fantastic little grey cells! :D )
Looks sooo good, the packaging is top notch and it all looks irresitable!! But I have so much on I must resist!! :-\

Lurk, lurk, tempt, tempt. :D

Are zombies part of the new undead range cos, if so, I'm stuffed! Can't resist buying zekes.
They should be, they're in the army list.
The undead zomies are a good choice too, especially if you give them the upgrade to make them a 'shambling horde'. :D

Oh dear, you see, it's that word: horde. It's just so hordey :D

;D ;D ;D
Huzzah, going to use that meme in my next game :D
The Goblin War Horde begins to gather...

Top right; Trolls.
Then from left to right going down the picture - Archers, Scouts, Empty base for another unit of archers (figures ordered !), Bolt Shooters, 2 units of Wolf Riders (not yet assembled), Shaman (will get plenty of scenic stuff to fill up the base), Warriors with spears fronted by Orcs (will perhaps give this unit "Shieldwall"), Chieftain, another warrior unit and three more on the next row.
I have also ordered some giant spiders for an interesting unit with the skirmish ability.
A close-up of the chieftain's unit:

Lots of painting to be done ! :D
Ooh, that's a thing of joy :)
Very nice.
It's interesting that you appear to be gluing the figures onto the base before painting. I'm thinking of taking that approach so i'll be interested to read/see how it works out.
I won't glue all of the "close order" stuff on straight away, just half the figures to make it easier for painting.
I've enjoyed sorting out the units but painting may take a while. Unfortunately this is about 143rd on my painting project list.

How do you get into the nooks and crannies between the figures?

To be honest it is why I base the way I do. All of the Sudan stuff on both sides and medieval stuff were all stuck down first.
00 brush!!
Quote00 brush!!
Is that like a James Bond of all brushes?

I don't. We're talking rank and file here (and this won't be to everyone's taste), I only paint what I can get to but you'd be surprised how little gets missed".
Works for me :)
As for elites, commander etc; I paint individually.
I always glue everything first, then base, then paint.

Hmm...I really ought to apply the base material (pollyfilla) first as it's a right pain in the @$$ at the end :-\
Good plan ;)
OK, that's me convinced.
I think i'll try basing everything up, including ground texture etc. before painting. Maybe try it on one unit and see how it works out.
Once the rest of my Hill Dwarves arrive i've a feeling my evenings are going to be busy!

Not sure how this would work on a Warband base though; that's a big old unit!
Actually i'm thinking it might be better, as I can paint the unit as a cohesive whole, to get the tone and overall look right, rather than 30 individual figures.
Like if there's a magic user unit it'll be easier to paint the 'glowing stone' at the centre, and its lighting effects across the assembled unit than trying to do that with each figure seperately.
I also like the idea of painting only what you can see. :D Anything that cuts out the workload on painting is a good thing for me. I'm a player not a painter. :)

Agree with that ;)
My goodies arrived this morning, took only 8 working days to come from the other side of the world (felt like forever though ;)) Now it's going to be a long day at work until I can get home and start unboxing. My weekend is now sorted!

So we'll be seeing the finished army sunday evening then? ;D
I've got three to get done...so much lead, so little time!

Perhaps that should be my weekends for the next several Months are sorted :)
I do however need to make decent progress before the next army is released
Slow progress with the Goblin army......
Everything has been undercoated in black. Since taking these photos I've started on the basic colours, beginning with skin on the goblins and trolls, but the light had gone so more photos will have to wait a while.

That might take a while, look forward to this with interest ;)
This is the first thing I've painted for myself in a long while. I'm usually painting for other people.
I've gone for green goblin skin - yes, I know there have been long discussions about this on other groups in the past, but I like working with green because it makes a change from regular "flesh" colours.
I like green goblins, if no-one else does, stuff 'em.
You forget the sand on the base. 8)
I usually leave the base until last. Wish I had more time to work on them.

Ain't that the statement of the year?!?!? ;D ;D :-\ :'(
Yep, sad but true.
Flesh !!! :D
Just roughly painted on for now, in shades of green, blue or red as 'appropriate' (?):

The detail is starting to show up nicely. I think those Trolls are going to paint up a treat.
Sadly I won't get any painting done this weekend - too many chores and Mothering Sunday duties to perform !
Cheers, Andy
Looking good so far Andy ;)
8)
It's fun watching them progress !!
Cheers - Phil
Taking shape nicely, the look really mean and nasty!
Looking good so far!
Great stuff Andy. Those trolls look awesome!
As the paint is applied it gradually reveals and highlights the skill of the sculptor. These are great little figures.
And more than 6 months later (!) the goblin army is almost finished. Just some finishing touches and the varnish then I am ready to go. I never said I was a fast painter :(
If those bad people at Pendraken hadn't forced me to go to Colours and buy a High Elf army I might have finished the goblins at the weekend !
Looks really good - do you have more photos?
Not yet. I'll get the varnishing done then take some closer shots during the week.
Cheers, Andy
Good work there! 8)
Can't wait to see close ups, especially of those bases with trees on.
These look rather nice
Take care
Andy
Looking good! m/
They are looking good, we need close ups please.
They look terrific !! :-bd =D> :-bd

Gloss varnish applied. The matt varnish will go on tomorrow, then I can make a proper start on the High Elves...

Sweet!
Really nice looking units
Very nice indeed ! :-bd
Cheers - Phil
That's a proper Goblin rabble!
They are great, lovely bases.
:-bd =D> :-bd
Interesting bases, that look good. The irregular sand on the plain brown base adds to the irregularity of the stands. I'm curious what colour base cloth you use them on.
They look really good, good work!
I do like the basing effect - even though it's quite stylised it seems to both frame the figures and blend in well.
Excellent work sir. I love the chariot as a hero upgrade. And the basing material is intriguing.
Really look the part, very nice job. :-bd
I have an idea for one more unit which will involve combining the contents of two existing figure packs.
The parts are on their way from Pendraken, along with some custom bases :-bd
And my idea starts to take shape... The Squig Squoggler Riders are coming ! :D

Space Hoppers Incoming!!!
Go on paint them orange! ;D ;D
They are really cool.
You can probably get rid of most of the putty, and just drill the wires into the base.
Yep, very tempted by orange :)
Oh well now...that's just a slice of fried awesome right there! :D :D
I LOVE those !! ;D ;D :-bd
Brilliant idea, Andy.
Cheers - Phil
Like those a lot! :)
I have a plan to use up the last few squogglers I have.
It's a great little model - shame there's only one "pose" available.
Cheers, Andy
We might look at expanding the pose variety and bring them over to the 'Warband' section once the 12 armies are all done.
