Title: What do you 'mistrype' (Over & over again !)
Post by: Techno on 23 February 2015, 08:17:59 AM
Inspired by Fred, who mentioned in his thread that he often/nearly always types 'chaos' when he means to put 'chaps'.......

What do YOU find yourself mistyping, over and over again !

For me, it's 'remeber' instead of remember (I really had to type that slowly... ;D)
My other favourites are signing off with Phuil instead of Phil......and instaed instead of instead. (Got each one of those wrong.)

Cheers (That's often 'Chers') - Phuil.

My name which usually comes out as: Gareth.  (In point of fact, anything with a capital letter often end up with 2; I don't let go of the shift key fast enough.)

And also which is usually aslo.

I do like Lloyd's rants; one of my favourites is his rant about: "in my opinion"; in my opinion he makes a fair point ;)

To quote the great Don Marquis:
CAPITALS AT LAST

CAPITALS AT LAST

By Don Marquis, in "archys life of mehitabel," 1933

I THOUGHT THAT SOME HISTORIC DAY
SHIFT KEYS WOULD LOCK IN SUCH A WAY
THAT MY POETIC FEET WOULD FALL
UPON EACH CLICKING CAPITAL
AND NOW FROM KEY TO KEY I CLIMB
TO WRITE MY GRATITUDE IN RHYME
YOU LITTLE KNOW WITH WHAT DELIGHT
THROUGHOUT THE LONG AND LONELY NIGHT
I'VE KICKED AND BUTTED (FOOT AND BEAN)
AGAINST THE KEYS OF YOUR MACHINE
TO TELL THE MOVING TALE OF ALL
THAT TO A COCKROACH MAY BEFALL
INDEED IF I COULD NOT HAVE HAD
SUCH OCCUPATION I'D BE MAD
AH FOR A SOUL LIKE MINE TO DWELL
WITHIN A COCKROACH THAT IS HELL
TO SCURRY FROM THE PLAYFUL CAT
TO DODGE THE INSECT EATING RAT
THE HUNGRY SPIDER TO EVADE
THE MOUSE THAT %)?) ) " " " $$$ ((gee boss
what a jolt that cat mehitabel made
a jump for me
it kicked me right into the

out of parnassus back into
the vers libre slums i lay
in behind the wires for an hour after

These are the more common ones:

teh instead of the.

becasue instead of because.

nad instead of and.

aslo instead of also.

batallion instead of battalion. (Only in English that is, if it was a proper French OOB it would be okay.)

Other than batallion (ba-tie-yon) instead of battalion, its the autocorrect that annoys me (took me four attempts to type the French version there).
ITS INSUBORDINATION ANNOYS ME INTENSELY!
I'm glad I have the caps lock - Lloyd. You're a pirck.
I type in Wargamer; it enters Warmer (where I live, pronounce it 'waarmer' and that's not always a good thing to be called). During the recent 'ear worm' thread, it kept correcting Westmarcher to Westminster when I tried to log in. Its stopped doing that now! Why? :-\  When I type fsn, it changes it to fun (looks like you have a fan there fsn - once it even changed it to fan !).  :-\

Its only the computer..I am sure fun has nothing to do with this problem. Your a warmer for goodness sake.

You can overcome this problem

One large insurance company I worked for, annually issued a diary which included a list of foreign agents (insurance ones - not spies), I think it was in Malaysia(?), one of them was called the Phuk King Garage.

What I would like is a key that when pressed caused the next and ONLY the next letter to be a capital letter. Am I the only one?

I either hold it too long and get two letters in caps or not long enough and get all lower case. As a result I tend to use caps lock rather than shift but that's an extra key press.

What I could really do with is a function that allows me to convert caps to lower case and vice-versa.

Someone is now about to tell me this exists :-[

Anything with a capital letter at the beginning. I always end up typing too fast and end up having double capitals...
This will only really mean anything who knows Shetland. Clickermin instead of Clickimin... I now have a post it note on the computer.

As a young programmer in the days of Fortran and punch cards, my programs were oft failed because I forgot the 'o' in 'count'.

I also have the habit of adding a 't' to 'busy'. I have sent several emails to ladies saying 'i know you are busty ...'

nessessary

It's got to the point that I know I always spell it wrong so have set up an auto correct to put it right; I now just have to remember to consistently spell it incorrectly, which is not as easy as you may think.

I used to work in the computer department for Access, the credit card people, years ago and I fondly remember those punch cards. We used to get the trainees to put the punched out bits back, colour correct and the right nuimbers in the right place. We also used to use the punched bits instead of confetti if anyone got married or fill up someone's brolly with them. Boy, we certainly knew how to have fun back in the '70's.

I don't have a problem with double capitals, I can't press the shift key quickly enough to get the first one! Luckily, I have ticked the Autocorrect box to capitalise the first letter of a new sentence.
