Title: Italian WW2 colonial machineguns
Post by: kustenjaeger on 19 February 2015, 12:32:02 PM
Greetings

At some point I am going to have to add MMGs to my WW2 Italian colonial infantry unit. I realised today that they used Austrian Schwarzlose M07/12 guns (see http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/divisions-of-a-libyan-infantry-regiment-of-the-italian-army-news-photo/141557288) so I believe that I will need to convert WWI Austrian MGs. Luckily they are in caps so the headgear should be relatively easy to remodel but I am less sure about changing the rest of the figure.

I assume green stuff will be required!

Regards

Edward

Hello kustenjaeger

You should be able to get by with just altering headgear (pictures of the Austrian MG at the Painting competition, Army of Austrian figures http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,11335.msg149412.html#msg149412 (http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,11335.msg149412.html#msg149412), alternately you could use the SCW - Moroccan Falange Militia (puttees, shirt sleeves, fez) and change the MG since they are armed with the Hotchkiss M1914.

I was looking at using the Moroccan figures as Italian blackshirts in fez.

Cheers
