Title: Indian mutiny rules
Post by: jems on 19 February 2015, 11:29:15 AM
Anybody recommend a good set of Indian mutiny rules to scale for 10mm please. I have the Devils wind which maybe a start. (I don't mean I have wind myself) !

Welcome to the forum ;)

I'll watch this link closely as that's a conundrum I'd like to solve too (as well as having a range of figures to do the period with too!)

Field of Battle 2 covers the period, although the closest army lists in the rulebook are for the 1840s Sikh Wars and the Crimean War. The rules themselves are designed for units of approx. 6" frontage and use inches, but if you want smaller bases for use with 10mm substitute cms for inches. Another set covering the period is Principles of War C19th, but you would also need to get hold of the Colonial Army List book for that one. I have a feeling Dixon Miniatures used to sell a set of rules that went with their 15mm Mutiny range.

I've got the PoW Rules and lists but don't think they work that well for colonial wars personally.

I know these by name, but not how they play - might be worth taking a look?

Hello jems

Most of the specific Indian Mutiny rules are skirmish in style. Being a solo gamer I've looked at 'Fast Play Indian Mutiny Rules' which is set up in the style of Pony Wars and Science vs Pluck where everybody is on the same side against a card/tables controlled enemy.

I have plundered.... read thoughtfully.... the ideas in the rules. It has area based movement but this can be altered quite easily.

If Black Powder floats your boat there is an article here http://www.karwansaraypublishers.com/pw/wss/ws-s-online/issue-57-black-powder-indian-mutiny-article/ (http://www.karwansaraypublishers.com/pw/wss/ws-s-online/issue-57-black-powder-indian-mutiny-article/) about using this for the Indian Mutiny.

Cheers
