Well Dave Fielder and I managed to kick off our Dux Bellorum campaign earlier in the week, and what a cracking game it was! Hopefully you will enjoy the AAR as much as we did the game:

Safari can't open the page.
Same here :(
Bombed out, too. But tried this

Nice looking game. Looking a bit linear at one point though. ;)
Hmmm, not sure what's going on there chaps :-\ :(. I tried copying and then pasting the following and that worked...

Dave tried to make it less linear and succeeded up to a point :D.
Looks like a great game. Looking linear because:
a) It's pre-Napoleonic, or so I've heard somewhere on the Forum.
b) Linear tactics were employed in the Dark Ages to keep the shieldwall together and to maximise the force of the charge, so pretty realistic I'd have said, especially as the game progresses the linear tactics tend to start falling apart until one side is completely shattered

That worked !
Thanks for sharing that one, Steve.

Good report Steve. Thanks for sharing.
Love it ;)
I like reading bat reps for periods I don't play but am always left with the urge to buy some rules and minis :)
Glad you like them chaps as it makes the effort worthwhile. I try to convey how the game went so that readers can follow the action as it were.
At GetAGrip: The rules can be had for around £6-7 on Amazon and add in two warbands from Pendraken, for around £10 each and you have a complete game for around £30. Not bad IMHO.
Steve,
Great looking game, and great write-up, thanks for taking the time to post. And I'm with Getagrip: I don't know anything about the period, but seeing great setups and games like this certainly makes me want to learn ;)
Take care.
V/R,
Jack

Lead pusher :P
Seriously though Steve, it is really tempting and as you say, cheap as chips :)
