Just finished these guys. They're some SYW Prussian Grenadiers. I hope I didn't screw up the colors to badly. They still need to be properly based and varnished before they're truely done.

Good choice of starting era.
Lovely stuff sir! My Prussian SYW army pack is winging it's way to me and I will be painting up these beauties too!! :-bd
Really good job. 8)
Very nice.
Damn fine work, Ken.
Cheers - Phil
Very nice
Very nice! SYW is on my list of periods to do!
Well I'd be happy with those. Nice work.
Cracking job =D>
They look good to me!
:-bd Look fine to me chief!
Excellent crisp work sir. The cornflower blue is perfect. The only tweak i'd offer is to make the red a bit brighter - on the tabletop that will be the main colour viewed from the front. Other than that, perfect. :-bd
Nice work, especially for a first go.
(though they aren't SYW grenadiers, they're from the Spanish Sucession era ;) )
:) very nice. Second the idea of brightening up the blue on the front. Maybe its the light but it looks way darker than the back.
Great work !
Very nice work
Agree with the comments about the red...The Vermillion red from Vallejo would make a nice highlight for the colour already there
Very nice painting, but they look more like Prussian fusiliers to me.
Thank you for all comments, I really appreciate it.
These were given to me after I expressed an interest in trying 10mm. The card with them said they're MAL9, and since I have zero knowledge of this period I went with what I could find online.
I think you're right, the red should be brighter.
What scale are you used to Ken?

I've been painting 6mm on and off for the last 2 years, with and occasional 15mm here and there.
Must feel like painting giants :)
I moved from 28mm to 10mm!
Looks really good
Take care
Andy
I've had another close look at the photos and I think they are MAL 09 which means they are Marlburian grenadiers in short mitre, about 50 years before the Seven Years War. They are definitely not SYW Prussian grenadiers.
Yes indeed, just got my army pack and the grenadiers in that are different to your pics, still a lovely job. :)

Thank you for the information. :) This will be helpful when I go to build an army around these.
Good work indeed
Yes go for the marlburian era, great one to wargame and plenty of great figures in the catalogue too.
What he said.
Though of course it will soon be eclipsed by the League of Ausberg range when the "Witchfinder General" and the "Cuirassier with an upset tummy" gets added.

Clib is, of course, right in both respects. The SYW grenadiers would have taller, more pointed mitres and turnbacks on the coat.
Don't let it bother you, though. The WSS is an equally nice period to game and your painting is excellent.

Thank you. These were given to me so I could try painting 10s. I had a lot of fun painting them and really like the way they look on the base, so much so I ordered a whole bunch of romans. :D
Romans, Prussians, close enough :D
Nice work and hope you enjoy the incoming lead pile!

That's the spirit! :-bd
10mm gets into your blood once you start, I always thought I would never get into smaller figures but it's all I want to do now!! :d
Top job! :-bd
