Title: Falkland Rules - Skirmish, and Larger Actions?
Post by: Mako on 04 February 2015, 09:35:31 AM
I read the postings for rules recommendations, from 2012, for the Falklands Conflict, but wanted to revisit that to see if people are still using the same rules, have changed, or if better options are available now?

I'm interested in some of the smaller, skirmish actions, like the initial Government House scenario, but also larger actions, like later in the conflict, when the Argentine forces were rolled up by the British.

Rules that can handle vehicles too, like anti-tank rockets vs. Amtracs, etc., and aerial/artillery/naval bombardment attacks also, are a plus.

Thoughts?

Force on Force work - once you get past the appalling text (not quite as bad as Barker) - also Furbar which are free. CoC might adapt. there is also Arc of Fire, but they arn't of the best. Several small sets have appeared in the SOTCW journal as well.

I'll use Some Corner of a Foreign Field (two-page rules) that allow for section strength skirmishing.
They don't however cater for vehicles :(

Vehicles barely played a role in the War. I wouldn't get too fixated on them unless going down the road of skirmish rules in Port Stanley or one of the other settlements.

You could try CWC with the skirmish and "fighting command stands" amendments from FWC & BKC2.

Play the bigger actions as written with bases as platoons or sections, then single figure for Gov't House?

And I'm also working on a post war version of Chain of Command with Rich of TFL. The Falklands is about 4 or 5 on the list of supplements to write.

Kind regards,

Richard

Now that could tempt me to start on these earlier than planned....

On a sudden thought, the old AK-47 rule from Peter Pig would probably work excellently!
