Hello all,
I've been lurking on here for awhile now and thought it about time I got an account. I'm mainly a 6mm gamer/painter, but lately I've been looking for a change.
I play everything from Ancients to WWII, Scifi and Fantasy. I'm a bit of a rules junkie. I've been playing a lot of Neil Thomas' One Hour Wargames, Sword and Spear and DBA. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on Warband.
Welcome Ken
I'm also a 'former' 6mm gamer. I am really enjoying the added detail of 10mm while still retaining the mass effect of 6mm
Welcome...I'm also playing Sword & Spear ancients and looking forward to getting a hold of Warband.
10mm for me in almost everything, but 6mm is super for really big horse-and-musket. They're natural allies, I think. Welcome aboard.
Welcome aboard.
A very warm welcome, Ken.
You've joined one of the friendliest (and maddest) forums around. ;)
It's great fun, though !!
Cheers - Phil
Welcome on board Ken :).
Hello and welcome Ken.
'Ow do, Ken - or may I call you Mr Barbie?
How do you find the "One Hour Wargames"? (If you say "on Amazon" then ... you'll fit in wonderfully.) It's on my wish list, but the only ruleset I use that I haven't written are the ones in Donald Featherstone's "War Games".
As Techno (he's an old member) says, this forum (when I say old I mean really OLD) is a place to find good company (I mean his first post was daubed on a cave wall) and genial insanity.
Welcome to the asylum....Mwhahahahaha :d
Another welcome from me. I am mainly a 6mm gamer who has started dabbling in 10mm (only 5 armies). As they say they are a mad lot here...of course I don't count myself in that category. (By the way have you seen the Mongol sculpts, beautiful plumage, major).
Hi, Ken. Welcome. :-h
Sold all of my 6mm armies years ago and started again with 10mm (but still using my 6mm buildings for my 10mm Horse & Musket games). No regrets going into 10mm.*
*actually sometimes I miss my 6mm armies (basically because I haven't 'replaced' them yet). I sometimes wonder about them .. yet, not once have they been in touch to let me know how they are ..... waaaaaa :'( ......
Might disagree with sell the 6mm stuff- still Welcome.

The plumage don't enter into it. They've got no bleedin' armoured horses!
Welcome to the forum, great bunch here, loads of great advice always given and a fair bit of humour and no nastiness, all in all you will enjoy your time here.

Understand what you are saying, Ian. It was during my wargaming
wilderness years. They were in their boxes unplayed with and unloved. It was cruelty to keep them. They needed to be mobilised, played with, loved. :x And so, it was with a heavy heart that I had to set them free. =((
But I soon cheered up when the cheques came in! :) And, when I
returned, my first purchase was from .... Pendraken! Huzzah! :-bd
Welcome, Ken :)

This is the main reason I'm interested in 10mm. I fancy myself a painter and 6mm just doesn't scratch that itch.

At first read I thought it was rubbish, then I played a few games just to see. I really enjoy them, especially when used with the scenarios and campaign ideas. I do wish he expanded each era to six types of units instead of just four.
This is certainly the warmest welcome I've ever had, thank you all. :D
Wecome, Ken. You'll find this forum is partly a depository of distilled wisdom and partly a psychiatric help-group. It's up to you to sort out the two factions....
Hi Ken,

Firstly, welcome Ken.
Interesting to here that about the Neil Thomas rules, I have the book and have used a number of the scenarios and they are very good, and adaptable.
I was tempted to give the horse and musket rules a go, and hearing the above I might well get on and try a game.

Thanks for the welcome
They're easy enough to learn and used with the scenarios give a pretty fun game. I really like using the turn cards he suggests in the campaign chapter. Let's you easily track turns and they add more to the game. Still trying to figure out the best way to record hits.
Can you point out where the turn cards are mentioned - I've had a look and can't spot them - but could have skimmed over the relevant bit. Thanks.

They're in the solo wargaming chapter (22) page 130.
Welcome Ken :)
