I'm currently working on 1914/15 French including colonial troops. Certainly for some of the proposed expeditions e.g to Syria they used this gun, not sure yet about colonial divisions on Mainland. Can anyone suggest a suitable proxy, ideally from a ape darken range.
Do you have a picture of what you are looking for?
It might help someone recognise something similar.
How on earth do you darken an ape?
Put in under a hot gorilla?
Hello JeffNNN
Now that we've got the comic relief out of the way (welcome to the forum by the way), the French 65mm looks like this:-

You could use the Italian 65mm mountain gun (http://www.pendraken.co.uk/SCW110-p5617/ (http://www.pendraken.co.uk/SCW110-p5617/)) with spoked wheels (I'm sure Leon can oblige):-

A picture from a blog I can't remember (I am getting old you know). I know all this because I was looking at this gun myself :).

Welcome Mr NNN. Might I suggest some oranges, or perhaps some senna capsules?
Strange and helpful, indeed. Also knowledgeable and barmy.
was this gun used on the western front, the Vosges for example?

Nobby - corrected your post....

Ah the joys of typing on an iPhone when your eyesight is lousy. Did no-one ever tell you lot it is wicked to mock the afflicted. I must look through my stuff on Vosges again, including all the photos I and others took on a visit there. I'm looking at the French Official History a bit but as I can only use it in the University archive it takes time, not least because it is an uncut copy.
Seriously though thanks for the welcome and I'm sure Leon will thank you all when he gets a request for Italian mountain gun but with spoked wheels and a French crew. Jeff
Comic RELIEF - Mr NNN I can personally recommend wargames figs.

In the light of the Great Matilda/Minerva Armoured Car Debacle, I thank you.
In reply to Leman yes it was used on the Vosges front. I knew I had a book about artillery there and in fact the mountain gun features on the cover, crewed by chasseurs Alpin. Now does Pendraken do a suitable crew, will look at SCW carlists etc. Now all I have to do is figure out how to post images here.
Welcome to the forum, Jeff. As for the mountain gun, you're all speaking Franc-Comtoise as far as I'm concerned.

No artillery figures in beret that I can think of straight away.

Maybe fatigue dress types you could use ACW kepi types with an added beret, 1860s Canadian militia added beret or maybe SCW Regulars again with added beret:-

The two on the right are mortar crew, maybe useful for mountain guns.
