Just a 'heads up' that Bruce Weigle will once again be gracing Colours this year. For those that missed his table in 2013, they really are wonderful to behold. With all the recent posts relating to the FPW, you may (or may not) be glad to hear that this years game will be FPW 1871. As I get more details I shall let you know.
Sounds like a very good reason to go down and see my brother.
Excellent, I saw his last game but didn't get chance to stop and chat unfortunately.
Dates?
Figs? Sorry, couldn't resist :D.
Saturday 12th September.
Only a one day show this year which means it will probably be heaving inside. Avoid the B'n'B table I reckon! I've only ever attended on a Sunday, but that could get busy at times.
I think we've been here before with the figs.
Keeping us regular then :D.

Ho Ho, thanks ;D
Good news, 1871 at Colours ... see ya'll there.
Just had more info on the scenario that Bruce will be demoing, details of which below:
The Battle of Lisaine 1871
"France's ramshackle Army of the East, despatched to Alsace in the dead of winter, was the Third Republic's last chance to influence the outcome of the Franco-Prussian War. Success against the single German corps holding the Lisaine River could sever the Germans' strategic lines of communication and threaten Germany itself with invasion. It all depended on the attacks around Héricourt, where the French were three times as numerous as their Baden opponents, but three times more cold and miserable, too."

Going to call for some fairly specialised morale rules, then.
Gambetta had a lot to answer for; some of those republican formations weren't fight to fight the Salvation Army.
Well, with God on your side, you surely have no chance of winning :D?
They were truly snookered. There's a painting of an absolutely knackered and wounded Turco being helped through the snow by a monk. All that's missing is a St.Bernard.
Good luck with that, look forwards to seeing it done!
Actually Lemmy I might try that painting as a conversion project as I have a monk or thirty amongst my medieval/DA stuff. If it comes off it could be next year's entry, as this year's is done and dusted.
