Seeing a successfully run Play By Blog game over on another blogger's blog (funny enough) I decided that I was interested in giving it a go.
This being a bit of an experiment, in seeing if a game can be played through emailed turn orders and photo's on the owner's blog, I'm interested to see just how successful the game will be. I am expecting the odd occasion of disaster, but some quick thinking should pull my plumbs out of the fire.
Anyway, there's a lot of information on how I went about creating the terrain and the rules over on my blog (so I won't waffle on here).
The players have just decided upon their starting positions, so the action hasn't started yet.

Here's the link to the beginning of the game [Turn Zero]

There's more photo's and 'in-game' description over there, which I won't pile onto this post.
Many thanks
Looks like that'll be great fun !
Cheers - Phil
Looks intriguing and will follow this with interest. Nice looking chaps and terrain, by the way.
I have posted on your '...so just how big is a gnome in 10mm-scale?' blog as well.
I suspect a blog & photo play by email would replicate the "fog of war" quite nicely!
Actually, it's a great opportunity for some double blind play.
Thanks all.
Subedai :-bd (well, I was looking for just the one thumbs-up, but two will suffice just as well).
I really like your trees, are they twigs and scourers?
They're twigs covered with pva glue, then painted with those Wilko £1 paint pots.
(very) Fine wire wool, bought at a pound shop, sprayed GW black then B&Q green.

Very effective.
All my other trees are either what I bought from Timecast or Pendraken (in fact some of the smaller trees on that table were bought from Leon). I hardly play 28mm games, so I was looking for a relatively inexpensive solution to my need.
Maybe this thread should be in the "Networking" - "Blogs" sub-board?
If it's suddenly moved there, I'll obviously understand.
Turn One's been posted ...

Turn Three - posted earlier today.
As I said earlier, this is a Play By Blog game, where the player's control their character through emailed orders sent in to me and then I put together a turn report combining all of the players actions translated onto the tabletop. Surprisingly it's working quite well, but on the day before the post on my blog it is VERY time consuming doing all the work :(

Where are the buildings from Roy?
The larger building is by Sarissa Precision - I think they call it a shack, if I remember correctly.
The furniture and stove is by 4Ground
The privy is by 4Ground.
Thanks; great looking game ;)
Lovely work Roy,
kev
Thank you.
Waiting for the last two players to get in their completed turn emails today, then tomorrow involves all of the hard work playing it out.

Another great turn!
Love this Roy, don't know how you have the patience though.
Cracking little set up :-bd
Thank you both.
Patience? Not sure I'm with you there, you'll have to explain.
The hardest part is the sheer workload - receiving the last emailed order, normally on a Thursday, and then getting it all set to publish on the Saturday. It's too short an amount of time, if I'm honest. If I ran a future game, or was to offer advice on running such, it would be give yourself at least twice the amount of time that you originally thought you'd need to get it ready to publish.
Patience waiting to see how the next turn goes; I'd be on the phone for the next move :)
I played Play By Mail games for a decade so am used to waiting, in some cases near a month, for games to proceed to the next turn.
As a player it may be infuriating for them. I don't know and I won't ask in case they tell me to hurry up. But as the games master, the workload means that I've had enough of it by midday Saturday to happily ignore it till the next Thursday; when I start collecting the various emails it's generated during the week and having to do all the hard work all over again.
Turn 8
http://rwhobbyblog.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/pbb-turn-eight.html (http://rwhobbyblog.blogspot.co.uk/2015/03/pbb-turn-eight.html)
though I might of spoilt it a little for the players after I revealed the 'trade secret' of play by blog gaming - it's played out on paper!

Thank you all.
