Has anyone got any rules or army lists, my p.c. crashed since my last request...................
MARIE!!! Hello! How you been? Haven't seen a post from you in absolutely ages. :D
Thought you'd got fed up with us all.
... and no. No Qin army lists.
Lists - WRG for most sets, Mongols in both Warmaster Medieval and Hail Ceaser, not looked at the other sets.
Rules - I'd go for Hail Ceaser, although 6th Edition Ancients would work.
And hello again, been a long time.
IanS
Welcome back, M.
Cheers - Phil.
Welcome back Marie.
Hi, Marie. Nice to have one of our few lady members back again. :) :) :)
Welcome back Marie.
I'd go Hail Caesar or FogA/M.
Welcome back. Newlines are planning a Ch'in and a Han range later this year, and Magister Militum have some not entirely mouth-watering Ch'in too. But they're FARRRR to early for the Mongols. Do you mean Sung or Ming?
Welcome back Marie. Check out Rick Priesley's site for WMA list which may have the ones you seek. If not, the WMA books have them IIRC.
Cannot work out what this IIRC that keeps cropping up means.
The WMA have Mongol, but not Chinese. The FOG supplement is Empires of the Dragon.

Thanks - would never have guessed. Kept thinking it was some sort of WWII recce unit - durr.
"Hi!"
"Hi, Mom. I'm busy. What can I do for you?"
"I keep seeing afaict, idk and ttyl here on the internet. What do they mean?"
"As far as I can tell, I don't know, talk to you later"
"Well!! If you're THAT busy I'll ask your sister!" :D
thanks guys, but I need web based pdf or something, i`m in the bush-ghana and no bookshops here,remember...fed up...never....merde....where did i put my paints,
I moved house, built a train set, lost my office/painting table, so for now painting at my desk, sacked the carpenter, who found the good wood, cos he stole from me, I caught him red handed, in the petty cash box in my office/home..
Set the staffy on him, who is Called Genghis, of course....
Then called security who beat him shitless....
Then got a new carpenter, who eventually found the good wood, for train board 1,2,3,4,5....till I got the size right, ha,ha, what a few moths I have had...
And so......back to 10mm...............hurray.....
All been fairly quite then :o :o
yh, and you try painting mongols on Malaria drugs.....lol
I suppose it depends how many Mongols you want to paint on the Malaria drugs, bit like writing the complete works of Shakespeare on a grain of rice. Oh frack! initially I wrote Shalespeare

Flint, yes, but no ways can you make a working spearhead from sedimentary rock.
Slate works well too! :D
Once made a decent set of arrowheads from slate.
Arrowheads are much smaller than spearheads.
Worked for javelins too. Be remade a thrusting spear (but I was about 9)!
Looks like I'm not the only one!
;D

With flint arrowheads....and having watched some clever clogs napping (?) flint...
If you ever find one, how can you be certain that it's 'genuine' prehistoric example, and not one that's been made recently ?
Cheers - Phil
However, sedimentary spearheads revealed this

Aren't hops a little soft for making arrows and spears ? ;)

There's no way of telling Techno apart from stratification evidence, if it's found in situ with other evidence it becomes dateable chap.
Also the stone age lasts the best part of 2million years, whereas the Bronze Age is about 2000 years and the Iron Age is 700 years!
And the periods overlap depending where you are in the world! Britain went into the Bronze Age early, but Iron Age late. Papua New Guinea only got to the Iron Age in the 19th century!
I'd better avoid getting involved in the production side of neolithic weapons. But the one in my mind is, of course, the formidable edge which can be made of obsidian.
Glazing over that...
Surely, there weren't any folk who fashioned obsidian into weapons.....Or have I forgotten an ancient civilization ? :D
Cheers - Phil
Sir Kenneth would question the word civilisation there, and for once I'd agree with him.

Much of Central America used obsidian, Maya, Aztecs (sorry, wash my mouth out) etc. Also used a lot around the Aegean and other parts of the Med. Anywhere volcanic will have reasonable amounts of the stiff around. I've a couple of nice Pre-Columbian pieces from Mexico. I looks lovely made into tools and blades, it's a very pretty way of killing people.
Pissst...wanna buy an arrowhead guv?
Does that mean there's such a thing as obsidian knapping?
If you make blades from goat bones, is that kid-knapping?

Well, if it's a young goat then yes.
As you hit igneous rock, it goes "wink...wink...wink. Thus, a nap (spelling has changed over time) became known as forty winks, that being long enough to send the worst insomniac off to Morpheus.

What's Sir Kenneth Branagh got to do with this erudite discussion ?
Cheers - Phil
Only a knight? He was a king when I saw him a while ago.

Not sure there was a plot to begin with, Marie. You know this lot - give them an inch and they're off to Jupiter....

Some real archeology going on here ! :D
Hey Marie, welcome back.
Have your ears been burning?
Asking for a friend.
Welcome back Marie. Are you still living in Ghana?
Good Morning Boys and gals, its been a long time...
I have finally, finally finished my Mongols and Chinese... yippee.
I got a little distracted, as us Brits got made redundant from Ghana hotel job..
Returned to London in 2016, after being pulled at Accra airport, for all the war game figures in my luggage, oh joy explaining, war gaming to Ghanaians is very difficult... However 20.00 quid sorted that one out, lol.
So back in Blighty, dragged my son to B&Q to buy some good wood (old habits die hard) Continued in my new career, until 2017 when I decided after all the knife crime in London was too much, it was time to move to the sticks...So I hail from Staffordshire now, and lovely it is...First thing on the removal van, was of course the good wood...
So the Mongols and I went on our merry way...
Bonus ball my new home has a wonderful room perfect for gaming....
Next I had to get my dog back from Ghana, and after a lot of saving, crowd funding, he arrived in April 2018...poor lad, missed his mommy, but my old staff had looked after him well.
So he trotted back courtesy of B.A. And then he got bundled in to a car, with my X bloke in tow (cos I don't drive)
And he offered to pay for a nights stay in the Hilton Hotel at Heathrow (well it was rude not too) lol
Anyway thats another story....
So home were all together again...
Next I got distracted with Star wars legion OMG I know...
Then 15mm ecw (Thanks to Ian Hinds)....Much later ....2019...Back to 15mm Romans....omg....And finally just as lockdown started....10mm ACW..(little chat with Leon and Ian Hinds sorted that out) Well that got me through Lockdown 1
as I was now classed as CEV due to my asthma...(now where are my fags..)
(//)
Eventually I managed to finish my long suffering Mongols....And I finally started my game tonight, on the not so good, Good wood...
However ..yes you guessed it, I have mislaid my rules again, so please help... If you know of any free or online rules....
I think I could have made some rules up but frankly...I dunno...
So I hope you have all been keeping safe...
Great to hear that not 6 months after I left Ghana the hotel went bust....
So we are happy and gaming....Planning on 10mm Naps or Texas war for this years winter project..
More pictures..
Welcome back. :)
Hi Marie.
Good to see you returned.
Likewise
...and again ! :-bd
Cheers - Phil. :)
Welcome back and nice pics as well 8).
Welcome back Marie.
Glad you're okay.
An eventful few years :o
Welcome back :-h
Welcome!
QuoteHowever ..yes you guessed it, I have mislaid my rules again, so please help... If you know of any free or online rules....
What sort of rules do you like to play? Buckets of dice, one or two dice, cards, grids, fast play, casual, etc? There's a bunch of free rules here: http://perfectcaptain.50megs.com/captain.html though I've not played any of them myself so can't comment. There's also some you can purchase digitally for less than a tenner, e.g. To The Strongest! if you don't mind dropping a little cash on them. There's also this resource which compiles a lot of free rules together: https://freewargamesrules.fandom.com/wiki/Freewargamesrules_Wiki.
Welcome back Marie.
