Title: Waterloo 2015
Post by: WeeWars on 02 January 2015, 07:53:42 PM
Anyone planning to mark the bicentenary with any 10mm 1815 refights?

Michael surely you jest

I've complained bitterly for years.
Look up my posts, this is apart from requests at shows

No Brits no Prussians.
As I was to play the campaign solo pendraken has no figures yet

You know yourself how long it takes to paint figures but the only 10mm. manufacture in the UK is Magister Militum so I decided if Pendraken can't be bothered I'll buy from someone who is
Old glory doesn't have the artillery caissons and limbers for Brits.

So I'm using 15mm for gaming now

Blucher is potentially a Feb release in the US.

I would have had three armies to paint but I had no intention of painting just one for this event.
However I haven't even had one. None of the armies have been produced, we saw some mock ups for Brits a year ago and on or two odds and ends.
What I can't understand is why such an important anniversary has been ignored. It seems to me an opportunity lost because many like me if they've waited have seen prices per figure rise but 300,000 men allowing 100,000 per army would have been at 20 : 1 15,000 figures or if they had produced the Brits last year as promised I would have cut down to 50 : 1 that's 6,000 of which about 1800 figures are for the Anglo Allied Army. A third of them being british that's 660 figures.
The plan wasa game with Napoleonic in France to play the original campaign moves and then a best option to attack other than Charlerios.
The fight the original battle and the option and compare

As I have most of the bases I may try a large game without figures, but it's not the same. But it's not the same.
When the figures weren't on sale two years ago as promised I should have known that he wouldn't come up with the goods

I had the opportuntiy to go and attempt to ride down the British squares in 2015... sadly not going to happen ..a. It costs £500 to get off this island (not to mention getting to Belgium) and b. it is difficult riding down a British square even as a lancer.... :'( :'( :'(

Just thought Forum members might like to see Waterloo being refought by the original commanders. The commanders are in 1:1 scale.

Wellington is not quite how I imagined him.

Yes, dear old Arthur appears a trifle overdressed. And his hat does catch the eye.

However, Napoleon looks the part. And he's nice and small there, standing on the table.

His hat reminds me of some conversions I did in plasticine and nail polish for some King's German Legion Dragoons  in 6mm ;) ;D

Long since redone :-[

I'll be doing something in 15mm with some figures that are 30+ years old

Think it's awfully unfair that Napoleon is in the thick of the action, but Wellington is behind a rope.

The British are unable to cross a rope.

It's there for a purpose.

To stop you crossing.

Surely his coat should be green, his favourite colour and the undress uniform of the Chasseurs à Cheval of the Guard?

You know, I think we may have been duped. I don't think this is the original commanders at all!

The blue is a massive giveaway. Plus the fact that the British commander looks nothing like Paxman!

Napoleon is so eager to get started, he's jumped up on the table. Wellington is saying, "Blucher's late and I'm not crossing the starting rope until he gets here."

Napoleon has made massive inroads into the table already....
