I live on the border of Shropshire and North Staffordshire about half a mile from the Blore Heath battlefield. I am a member of Stoke Wargames Group which has been going since 1970 (year of my birth :'( )
I am married to the lovely Lisa, expecting our first baby any time soon.
I followed the usual route of Airfix toy soldiers via the geekdom of Dungeons and Dragons, obsession with Star Wars and DC comics. At the age of 19 I found my local club where I was exposed to historical wargaming at its finest with massive ACW games played on 12x6, all hand built scenary of superb quality using 25mm Dixons. We used (and some members still use) a set of computer moderated rules called Victoriana by SoTa on a Spectrum 128k! It was great!
I've collected, painted, played with and then sold more figures than I would dare to think about. Favourite periods are ACW, AWI and WW1.
I attend alot of shows up and down the country. I spend far too much time on forums like this. I am a wargames butterfly, switching and changing plans on a regular basis, usually inspired by a film, book or something seen on the 'tinternet.
This forum seems a friendly place so if you folks don't mind I'll stick around a while :)
Hi Sean, welcome to the Forum! Feel free to stick around as long as you like!

Howdy Sean,

This is a very good forum and a very helpful group of wargamers!
"I am a wargames butterfly"
Great description - I'm guessing lots of us here are like you Sean ;) Welcome aboard!
Hell's teeth - it's like looking in the mirror ;) ;D 8)
Welcome Sean - stick around, it's good here...
Hi Sean
Just to clarify - the picture is not me. Anyone know who he is ;D
Is it Christopher Fairbank who played Moxey in Auf Wiedersehen Pet?
ditto to what NTM said ;D
Nah - that's
definitely Tom Waits - do I win a prize?
Top-notch too...
Hi Sean - greetings from another butterfly 8)
Top prize of a smoked kipper to Mum. I was introduced to Tom Waits during a particularly boring economics class when our lecturer produced a stereo and played "Blue Valentine" for us. They don't make them like that anymore
Waits is also a bit part actor, probably most famous for playing the lunatic in the asylum in "Bram Stokers Dracula "
if only Nik had answered first then I Would have copied his answer and got it right ::)

...where he's
very good, but don't forget his role as Benny in Rumble Fish...total quality...
Of course I meant NIK wins the smoked kipper, not my mum. She's never heard of Tom Waits.
Rumblefish was a good one. My favorite is 'Down By Law' directed by Jim Jarmusch. Classic escaped prisoners tale.
