Title: Chasseur figs to go with new ACW range?
Post by: Aksu on 29 December 2014, 04:52:43 PM
Hullo,
Are the 1870 French figs compatible with the new ACW figs? And should I go with the Chasseurs a pied figs if I want to make some "chasseur" uniformed regiments for my Union force?
Cheers,
Aksu

Yes and no depending on how fussy you are about accuracy. The FPW uniform is the 1868 uniform. The chasseur uniform of the ACW was the 1860 version which had a much shorter jacket and baggier trousers. Not sure if the Volontaires de Ouest might not be a better bet with the appropriate paint job. The French troops themselves hated the uniform, and by all accounts many Americans could not fit in to them. The trousers were eventually cut up to make sack coats.
