Title: SYW range.
Post by: ali657 on 29 November 2014, 11:04:58 PM

Evening all, thinking of doing some SYW British and Hanovarian. Are there drummers etc in all the packs and what difference is there between the British and Hanovarians.
      Cheers Al

Can't speak for the Hanoverians but the British come with drummers, sergeants and officers (pipers or flutes in Highland / Grenadier)

Also check the 'generic standard bearer pack' - much better than the ones in the general packs IMO

Thanks for that Zippee, those are really nice. I think I will order a few packs. :)   Do the Horse Grenadeirs have mitre caps as I want to do the 2nd Dragoons.
                                        Cheers Al.

A little white Hanoverian horse on the red cartouche over the forehead? I applaud your ambition, sir.

It is doable - albeit stylised

Found a couple I'd already started. I'll paint one up next couple of days, I originally intended them to be Scot's Greys

cheers guys.

Ali, you'll see when you get them, but I found its best to bend the musket out of the way and do that last so you can get in at the mitre. Also the mitre is a bit small on this model (about 3/4 the size of the infantry ones) and the 2nd dragoons mitre pattern is v.complex. I'm still unsure how to tackle it when I get around to painting a few stands of these.

Look forward to seeing yours when you get around to them.

Matt

Zippee and Matt. Great work!  =P~

I must say that over the years the standard of painting for 10mm has really come on.  =D>
Quite relieved I don't know how to post pics of my own collection painted many years ago when my eyesight was even better than what it is now!  (:|

Ali, have many happy hours of wargaming the SYW - oh, wait a minute, you don't wargame much do you? Anyhoo, looking forward to seeing your work. Cheers.

Thanks for the tips Matt, hope to get some painting in over the Christmas break. Thinking about painting some as Hanovarians, got to do a bit more research on the uniform front. Once again cool painting 8)

Lovely work, very nice indeed. I have a small collection of 15mm SYW but this really makes me want to junk them and start in 10mm.

>sigh<

That is not the derivation of the name. . .

Wearing lace up jeans in the dim and distant psychedelic past has more to do with it . . .
