Title: Napoleonic 2mm
Post by: Edmund2011 on 20 November 2014, 11:55:10 PM
I've started a tiny new project  X_X  :D

For now I have painted the french infantery, next the cav and artillery.

Very cool.  A really good job.  I used to have 2mm napoleonic armies.  What did you use for the groundwork?

I'm in the middle of 2mm project.  I have a set of rules by Sam Mustapha where one unit (3 inch bases) is 1 division.  I'm basing 1 block to 2 battalions or 4 squadrons.  I don't do this much detail - I rarely paint flesh. Its what I call my 3 foot standard - can you tell from the other side of the table!

Tried it once so I could do mixed operations games with the fleets I had then. But I remain convinced that 6mm is the way to go for horse and musket games.

Agreed, for large Horse & Musket games, 6mm is small enough for massed effect but large enough for some detail

Lovely work Edmund. The bases work a treat which makes a big difference at this szie IMHO.

Nice!

I have some laying around too, just can't decide upon rules and basing.

Very nice painting, the basing you have used is also very effective.

Thanks a lot guys. Bases are important, as they are much bigger than the figures!  :o

Mine are quite simple: white glue + sand + flock.

I will give a try to Shako rules and also Warmaster with simple napoleonic houserules added.

Try napoleonicmaster! Easy and good! It comes free from the warmaster historical yahoo group! I can send you a copy if you want, only thing you need is the warmaster rules.

I decided to give a try to "2 by 2"; read through the rules this morning.

Nice work...Like the basing a lot

Been thinking about getting some of MM's new 3mm ancients to have a go with sword and spear

I have some laying around too.

And whom are they laying?

There's a lot of detail that you really want in ancients that doesn't shew below 10m scale. I made that mistake once; eventually realised I had dozens of 6mm armies that didn't look very different from each other.

Very neat, and they certainly pass LH's three foot rule.  :-bd
