Title: Fieldworks buildings - do they still exist?
Post by: Wulf on 20 November 2014, 08:23:33 PM
In another thread not a million miles away, I was introduced to Fieldworks miniature buildings. I like the look of what I see on their website, but despite a couple of email and a wait of over a month, I've had no reply from them. I don't like committing to a purchase without knowing there's someone actually dealing with my order, so I'm unwilling to chance ordering.

So, in short, has anyone here dealt with Fieldworks in the last few months? Are they still there?

With 61 views and no replies, I'm guessing information is, at best... scarce...  :(

I've not seen/heard anything either way I'm afraid.  Their website is showing that they didn't attend any shows this year, but I've not heard anything to say they're not trading.

On a not-unrelated subject, the suggestion was recently made that Pendraken would do well to acquire the moulds from TB if they're permanently out of business. I hope that idea doesn't die.

From what was mentioned in the other thread it looks like TB will be up and running again in the near future, so it'll be good to see them back.

Well, I tried placing an order with Fieldworks, in case they ignore email that doesn't have an immediate promise of money. Nothing back for almost 2 weeks...  :(

They answer their phone... Will place an order tonight, they're emailing me the total cost. Very nice lady to talk to.

They deliver PDQ as well... Very well packaged, individual items well wrapped in a ziploc bag wrapped in bubblewrap, the whole padded out with foam sheets.

They're in a hard, dark resin with a good ring to it when tapped with a fingernail, and a few, but not many, small individual bubbles. Most of what I bought was battledamaged anyway... larger buildings have removable upper floors, with tabs on the floor to allow removal.  Brick & tile detail is well etched, and overall detail very nice.

One disappointment - which I thought likely from the photos on the website - it that the roofs don't so much 'fit' as just 'sit there'... A lot of work needed to make them close to flush!

Overall, very nice, happy with this. Must remember to phone first if I order more...

Glad there still going, I have quite a few of their buldings which I like alot. I seemed to pick up another every show they were at. I found them very approachable and always ready to chat at shows. They are a mature couple and I assumed retired, so perhaps they are just taking it a bit more easy.
