I have started to collect and paint a AWI British Army, I have to scale down from 28mm to 10mm and 6mm , Any help would be most welcome cheers alex mc :)
Welcome Alex,
There are a number of useful threads on AWI. A search of the forum for AWI will give you plenty of places to start.
This thread http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,560.0.html (http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,560.0.html) will provide some initial inspiration or dispare depending on your current painting level.
Feel free to ask questions, the answers will be interesting and sometimes relevant ;)
Anything by Dazza or Andymac will be serious inspiration. :)
Welcome on board.
Hi Alex
Welcome.
Hi Alec!
Lots of info here about both AWI and painting the smaller scales by people more knowledgeable about both than I am. However, I will say that when painting smaller scale figures you need a slightly lighter shade of whatever colour you're using than you'd use for 28mm.
As Paul said, feel free to ask questions. Surprisingly, given we are on the internet, the forum members are remarkably friendly and helpful!
Welcome from me too, Alex. :-h (Huzzah !! the additional 'smileys' are working again....So's the spell checker. :>...Techno is a happy bunny !)
Cheers - Phil
Welcome to the rest home for the terminally bewildered.
Welcome Alex, or may I call you Mr Mc?
I too went from 20mm to 10mm. My first attempts were not successful. A pair of scissors and a box of Airfix does not compare favourably to the Pendraken offerings.
I'm not too up on the AWI. There weren't too many Centurions there were there? Still, if Cornwallis had had a squadron of Mk IIIs the Union Flag would still fly over Washington.

Welcome on board Alex.
welcome i to was taken over by the awi figs painted both sides to the best of my ability (not great) may even use them one day
If the Mongols had been in the AWI I would be all over it, but sadly they did not so I can't help you either...but welcome anyway. In saying that, I am positive some of the more enlightened forum members will be able to pontificate at large on all aspects of the war.
Injuns ... they were Mongols weren't they?
Alexander...tough name for a wargamer to live up to. Like being called Ludwig as a musician.
Like Ludwig from One Direction!
Who/What are One Direction ?
Some new beat combo that I've never heard of ?
Cheers - An Old F**t.
Get with it Granddad! One Direction (or 1D as we hipsters know them) are the grooviest cats laying down grooves. They blast out tunes like .. then one that goes ... you know. And they're style icons all of 'em - Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Titch.
1D - not just a randomisation device - Nobby
In my, (ahem) younger days....I was under the misapprehension that the above mentioned group were.....
Dave - Dee - Dozy - Beaky - Mick & Titch.......and wondered why there was always one of them missing when they appeared on Top Of The Pops. :D
Cheers - Phil
There used to be 6 members, but the could not afford the extra comma and drew lots. Poor Dee had to leave and Dave Prendergast had to change his name by deed poll to "Dave Dee".
Having said that Dee had a happy life as a hairdresser in Penge. Owned a shop on the High Street and bred show poodles with his wife, who was also called Dee. In their local, the Velvet Pantaloon, they were known as the "double Dees". In his unpublished memoire he says that he was a bit sad to have missed out on the success of the group, but felt that the lack of contribution (mostly triangle and maraca) was the cause of the short lived success of the group. "Lacked punch", he said.
Dee still performs with the Penge Amateur Singers. In fact last year, his Mr Bumble was well received at the Townwomen's Guild. Sadly, he is no longer with Dee, who in the late '80's ran off with a Pommeranian breeder from Pommerania.
Dee does feel that his was maneuvered out of the group, accusing Dozy of having stashed away a comma and saying that Beaky's mum had a comma she never used.
Oik !! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Cheers - Phil
Oh fsn, to think I said recently that you were mad as a box of frogs. I take that back. Mad as a whole herpetarium of frogs :)
I'll take that as a compliment.

One Direction? Sorry, I thought it was One Erection, a comment on a dysfunction problem shared by all but one of them.
