Title: napoleonic polish in french service
Post by: Nosher on 28 October 2014, 08:01:42 AM
Esteemed nappies experts.... I have come across conflicting info relating to the headdress worn by Polish troops in French service.

French Shako for troops from the vistula legion of Czsapka?

1809 particularly.

The other info i have is Duchy of warsaw predominantly in Czsapka?

Help!

For DoW troops from 1807 use the czapska.

The vistula legion (4th, 7th, 9th DoW in Spain) were re-equipped and adopted the shako.

If you're looking at DoW units fighting in the 1809 campaign in Poland-Silesia then czapska all the way.

4th, 7th, 9th DoW (Duchy of Warsaw) in Spain were not Vistula legion. The Vistula legion were part of the French Army. Their infantry shako had a sunburst plate. Vistula legion lancers wore Czsapka with a sunburst plate.
