Title: 1866 Prussian Artillery Gun colours
Post by: sdennan on 10 October 2014, 10:58:34 PM
Hi All

What colour should the barrels be and the carriage themselves?

3 Units done, Jaeger on the way with the 12lbers.

I know we haven't finally resolved this, but I believe the smoothbore 12pdrs were bronze. If so, it might be useful to paint them as such, as it differentiates clearly  between the short range smoothbores and the long range rifles among your guns.

I'd always understood that bronze, as cast into gun barrels, quickly weathered to an almost black colour when in use.

That's as may be but in 10mm I want to identify my guns quickly to keep the game moving.
