A Buckle decorated with Fighting Knights from Kígyóspuszta, Hungary, 13th century (http://www.warfare.meximas.com/13/Kigyospuszta_buckle.htm)
Comparing David Nicolle's drawing with the photo it can be seen that b has antlers on his helmet rather than curved horns and d does not have a diamond shaped pommel.

There doesn't seem to be many contemporary 13th century illustrations of Hungarians. Does anyone have any?

That's a serious piece of status symbol right there!
That is a really interesting find. I have been trying to gather information of 13th C Hungarian troops as part of my ongoing 'Mongol Project' but have been almost totally unsuccessful. I have watched your posts with interest in the hope that something good might pop up and that belt buckle is most definitely it. It indicates beyond a shadow of a doubt just how effective European -especially German- influence was at the Hungarian court, so when I do my Hungarians I can quite happily order the Pendraken European Knights knowing they are of the right type.
