Title: Yemeni antique?
Post by: Wulf on 05 October 2014, 03:25:54 PM
Can anyone positively identify this old veteran I spotted on a news item on the conflict in Yemen? Unfortunately, I paid more attention to the imagery than the story, so I didn't hear whether it's actually actively involved (but the guy did get in & move the gun around). Looks like a SU-100, maybe a SU-85? Unexpected sight, anyway.

Unfortunately, I have nowhere to post I can directly link to, so here's my BoardGamegeek gallery pages:

It's either an SU-85 or 100.More likely a 100, with the cupola, and the 100 was produce in much larger numbers  post war. Really need a front or side veiw to tell.

Archers - na not Syria, but Egypt maybe. There may be a Cromewell derivative though.

Maybe something to oppose it then, perhaps those old Stugs & Panzer IV's ;)

Anyhoo, impressive mechanical engineering there, to keep going so long!

Yes, there's probably a little man in a backstreet somewhere turning out parts on a hand-lathe. And he'll flog you a PaK 40 for twenty quid.  :D

If it had the provence documents I'd add that to my collection of Dead Sea bibles, pieces of the true cross, totes legit Hammurabic cuneiform tablets and Pharaohs beards ;)
