The lesson learned by the dismounted Mamluks was that even shoddy Maronite archers can effectively stop an unsupported storming party. This is the fortress before the battle, c/o Magister Militum.

Yes, I'm considering that, But perhaps after I've also done a model of Piotrgorod, so I can wash two burgs with one tone.
