These took far too long to complete, but I got there in the end. The first of my 17th century Polish for 'By Fire and Sword'. Most are from the 16th/17th C. Polish Renaissance range, but some sneaky Croats can also be found. They still need to be varnished, so they should appear less glossy after that.
Next in line are their Swedish opponents. I hope to finish them a bit quicker, but don't hold your breath.
The whole force so far, a basic Polish skirmish force.

Let us know how you get on with the rules. I have tried them once and wasn't that enamoured
Like them a lot. 8)
They look very good. Great feeling to get a project boxed off.
Thanks for the nice comments, guys. :-bd

It's the game I played the most since I got the rules last year. All in 15mm, but once the Swedes have some troops as well that should change. The games we played have been fun. The biggest drawback would be the limited number of scenarios, once you've played them a few times you do get a 'Oh no, not that again' feeling. Then again, the uneven force points mean that a scenario can play very differently from the last time. Also, the planned supplement (The Deluge) will have more scenarios.

Well, it's a start. After these, I have the first of the Swedes. Then more Polish (Dragoons, Wallachians, Tatars) and more Swedes (Dragoons and artillery). Then the same all over again. I've now started on the Swedes, and they seem to go quicker. Well, I suppose it would be difficult to be slower than those Poles that sat on my desk for a few months. And for me, finishing something means I feel like doing some more.
Very nice 8)
Still assembling mine...
Ah, yes, bolt right arm to right torso, remembering to tighten elbow nut..... :D

All in good time, I suppose. Would love to see what you could do with these, though. It's a long time since we had any of your painting progress reports (nudge, nudge).
What puts me off By Fire and Sword is that you can only have Hussars in a really big game. Feels a bit pointless fielding a Polish force without them, but the rules with smaller forces are geared around small scale engagements.
I should really give them another go but I'm enjoying other games and periods far more at present. FoG Renaissance is still my staple for the period. It maybe a bit long winded but it does give quite accurate 'feel' to the Pike and Shot era.

Well, the lists are based on historical examples, and Hussars usually don't have a place in small scale engagements. Then again, there is a free PDF of the Gosiewski Foray (http://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCoQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fireandsword.wargamer.pl%2Findex.php%3Foption%3Dcom_rokdownloads%26view%3Dfile%26task%3Ddownload%26id%3D21%253Agosiewski-foray%26Itemid%3D78&ei=KYQ5VNvTEMbbPML4geAN&usg=AFQjCNFDFeiQMu_Wf9S9hZSCkwGp6gfu_w&sig2=gK4Im84tbSjzF9Bj9B1Pcg&bvm=bv.77161500,d.ZWU) skirmish force which is a Lithuanian army raiding and reconnaissance force that includes some Hussars.
