Title: Germans in Palestine in 1916 - MGs & Cavalry
Post by: paulr on 19 September 2014, 05:08:33 AM
Does anyone have pictures of GEA3 MG 08 team (3) from the East Africa German range? Would they be suitable for German crewed MGs in Palestine?

What figures would be suitable for the German Asia Korps Cavalry squadron?

I certainly hope Michael spots this one as I am trying to finalise my order this weekend. He has shown me almost all the figures in the ME range ;D

Also what do the crews of GEA5 Artillery crew with captured 2.5" screw gun (3) look like, tropical helmet I hope  :)

Just ask Leon for whatever crew you think is appropriate.  :-bd

Greetings

My guess is that GEA will have German slouch hats.

Managed to find this photo of some of the German Asia Korps Cavalry squadron

So cavalry with lances and slung rifles with caps and neck covers.... any suggested codes?

The mounted officer figures in the Russian WWI cavalry pack can be given a lance (I've already done this) and a greenstuff neck cover.

Hello paulr

Only picture I could find of German East African troops are on this page:-

http://turbilminiatures.blogspot.com.au/2011/12/10mm-german-east-african-army.html (http://turbilminiatures.blogspot.com.au/2011/12/10mm-german-east-african-army.html).

Not sure if the MG crews are German or British though.

For the cavalry you could use early British WW1 with service cap and a havelock added or in this thread on Japanese cavalry for the Russo -Japanese war http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,3984.0.html (http://www.pendrakenforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,3984.0.html) it was discussed to use the 1879-1884 South American Pacific War range. The lancer doesn't list a havelock though and I have never seen these figures.

Pic of Japanese Cavalry from that thread.

Hi Paul

Don't forget you can add some Austrians to your order  ;)  In caps should be fine.

I don't have those Germans from the East Africa range - as far a I remember :P. I may have mentioned that BEA4 is a quality version of ME6 and definitely worth getting.

Cheers., Michael

Wooaaahhhh! don't encourage him, our next wish list is long enough already and I'm paying for most of it as recompense for Paul painting my 1914 stuff (suppose he'll charge double since they're so well done!)  ;)

Don't panic Peter  ;) ;D The Austrians will only make an "appearance" as off table artillery.

I'm sure we can come to a suitable arrangement as I believe there are some of your things in our wish list that I might end up painting  ;D

I think Pasha II will be enough foreigners to help the Turks  ;)

Are you saying that BEA4 is a better version of ME6 or that it would be good to add even more variety :-/

Thanks Grumpy

Any one got pictures of
SAP8 Cavalry, kepi, havelock, carbine
SAP9 Cavalry, kepi, havelock, sword
SAP10 Cavalry, kepi, lance

Are they based on the Union cavalry from the ACW range? Any pictures of those?
