Title: 1877 Russian foot kepi picture
Post by: lekw on 08 September 2014, 01:27:11 AM

Kind of an odd question was wondering if anyone had a picture of the 1877 Russian foot with kepi figure? I was wondering if I could use the figures in the pack as WWI Russians just to add variety to the WWI figure poses? I am ideally looking for a WW1 Russian type figure advancing or charging with a bayonet on the rifle.

For WWI use the 1877 figure in furushka which is identical to the peaked cap used in WWI. It is an excellent advancing figure with bayonet, backpack and blanket roll. The Kepi figure will look too French for a WWI Russian.

Yes, the kepi went out of fashion in the Russian army in the late eighteen-hundreds.

Here's a picture of the Russian Infantry in furushka

The officer and ensign are really useful for WW1 as well - the drummer isn't as he is wearing the kepi

I use them as WWI Guard Infantry to differentiate them from the line. I also use RJW infantry with peakless caps in my RCW White Army.
